I had internet explorer 6.1 on my system and it was giving problems. I have removed it but still unable to do?

I had internet explorer 6.1 on my PC and it was giving me problems. So I removed it by going to add remove programs and tried downloading the same version through my firefox browser. I.E. first gets saved then when i run it a message says that there is a higher version installed in the system, hence can not continue. How do i resolve this issue?

If you still want IE, then download IE 7. For sure it's better than 6.
