I was thinking about getting him an ipod, download the songs he likes on to it, getting the wall charger and sending it to him for Christmas...I thought it was a good idea, what do you think? I'm also sending him a Christmas stocking with cookies, hard candy, shave cream, razors, shampoo, shower gel, crstyal light, and stuff like that...Good idea?

Yes definatly. My husband just came back from afghanistan a few months ago and i know his IPOD was used very frequently. He also loved his PSP. When they have their downtime they need something to keep them busy. relax their minds.
Sending xmas boxes can be very fun. Have ya'll dated for awhile. Have any traditions of christmas together. Mine was gone last christmas and i tried to send him many things we did as a family. I sent him a tiny lil xmas tree wrapped up some things he needed in wrapping paper so he had the idea of unwrapping presents. When he's home we always use to make christmas sugar cookies and decorate them. So we made alot of those and mailed them to them. Of course they probably tasted badly but the idea that he was still included in our traditions was a big hit for him.
A little advice tho. When filling out the customs papers do not write that on there. There are many custom stops along the way and it has been known for expensive things to be missing from the box when they arrive to our boys.

I wouldn't mail ANYTHING of value to Afghanistan. It will probably end up getting "lost" in the mail. But I guess if he's in the military that it will only go through the US postal service and to the military postal service, so maybe it will be okay. I think it's a good gift idea. My girlfriend got me an 8GB (holds about 4000 songs) Creative Zen MicroPhoto MP3 player. You can sync songs to it from your windows media player w/out having to install itunes or install them on itunes. And you can put photos on it too. Not to mention that on the Creative site an 8gb is only about $100.00 much cheaper than the iPod. The 8 GB nano only holds 2000 songs and costs $250.00 But do some comparison shopping my votes for the 8GB Creative Zen MicroPhoto. Good Luck!

Yes it ts an excellent gift i don't know what I would do with out mine. Be sure the wall charger is multi volt because the voltage is not like in you house it is 220v. just make sure it says multivolt or 110-220v on the volt range and it will be fine.

Better yet, get him an IPOD Video! Those things are the best. You can hold music and movies on those, which really helps when he has those down time.

Thats is a good idea, just insure your package :-) be sure to PRE- load it with music, they really cant download music over there because the web is too slow and they don't get much time online.

GREAT GIFT! I am in Iraq and it would be great to get gifts like that over here. Send the package Priority and put insurance on it. Don't worry the mail system over here is great.

It is a great gift....all of the things. I got a IPOD while I was over there then all my buddies started getting them. The other things are items he could get but it means a lot more that you get them for him.

Good idea. He will find enjoyment with one. Just make sure he didn't buy one over there yet.
Maybe some beef jerky too. That is a hot item, so is state side tobacco if he smokes or dips.

It's a suberb gift. Just make sure shipping is secure and it gets there afely (i.e is not stolen during shipping). Maybe you can ship through the military.
