Hey bud, i think your best to buy a spanish lhd and registered car in th uk, as in spain second hand cars are expensive for example, fiat panda cost 700-1000 euros here. we paid 1500euros for 15 year old fiesta and my brother paid 2500euros for renault clio 12 years old. You will get a better car in the uk if you can find one. Other option is to look on ebay.es or a spainsh site called segundomano.es , if your spanish is ok you should be understand the site. or use babelfish web page translator.
Hope this helps, if you in the murcia region, the renault clio is going up for sale.

If you buy a UK registered car you'll probably have to re-register it, which I know from personal experience in France is a lengthy and costly business. 2nd hand car prices in France are dearer so its swings and roundabouts. Not so much help to you as you're in Spain.

Have you read: Living and Working in Spain (Survival Handbooks)? The France one was great and gives an idea about the cost of all that stuff.

PS whichever you decide, I'd recommend a Jeep Grand Cherokee - fab! Good luck with the move.

A used car in Spain would be the best option. There are certain rules about owning a UK registered car in Spain for any length of time. Not sure what they are, but worth investigating if you go down the other road. Pardon the pun

Buy your car here. You will get alot more for your money as there is not alot of use for LHD cars in the UK.

Make sure it has AC!!!!

Nice Bora under budget here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2002-Volkswagen-Bora-1-9-TDI-Very-Good-Condition-LHD_W0QQitemZ120154962710QQihZ002QQcategoryZ9873QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

In Spain; more choice, hence lower prices.
