Do I just keep working as hard to keep it off or can I have an occasional m&m and be okay? I've never reached my goal weight and size and I'm going to get there and I'm very afraid I will gain it back...

When people reach their goal weight, they tend to do one of two things: either think this means they can slack off on their workout and diet routine now, and eventually fall back into their old habits and gain all the weight back, or they continue pushing ahead and losing more and more weight until they are unhealthily thin. It's about balance- once you reach your goal, you can maintain your weight by consuming no more than 2000 calories per day and by exercising for at least 30 minutes, 3 times a week. In other words, if you've been killing yourself with exercise and eating nothing but rice cakes and celery, you can ease up a little when you get to your goal. But don't reach for those Doritos just yet- you need to still make healthy food choices, like picking fruit over chips when you get a choice, or drinking diet soda instead of regular (or better yet, water!) or you'll just end up right back where you started. As for the occasional M&M- go ahead and reward yourself with a whole pack- just make sure it's the mini-pack, not the 1-lb. bag.

It's okay to incorporate junk food in your diet. Just do it in moderation. Also you can cut back a bit on your exercise to a minimum of 30 minutes a day, five days a week.
