In a very rural residential area without sidewalks - when jogging should you go with or against traffic?

I was running this morning on the right side with traffic (mostly to avoice ankle biting dogs I know on that road) and a lady pulled her car over and yelled at me, telling me I should run facing traffic and that she has almost hit me several times- I run as close to the edge of the street as possible and there are plenty of kids out wating for school buses - so i think she just woke up on the wrong side of the bed!

The law is to always go against traffic, so you can see vehicles approaching you and can get out of the way if needed, which you cannot do if they come up from behind you and you dont see them. Which is especially dangerous if you are wearing headphones and don't hear them approaching either.
Drivers can see something facing them better also, so stay safe and face traffic.

I walk against traffic, unless there is no space to get out of the way due to trees, walls, whatever. I feel safer when I have a ditch or field to run to in case someone does not see me or has to drive close to the edge due to a passing vehicle, etc.
Happy running!

Always jog facing the traffic so you can get out of the way quickly if you need to.

Always on the right side!
I also live in a pretty rural community.
Almost everywhere you go stay as close to the edge as you can, & go with the traffic. True, you won't see them, but if you keep as far to the right as possible you will stay safe. Cars will stay on the road, & you will stay where there are no cars.

I think that you should be able to see the oncoming traffic, so I usually jog on the left side of the road

Against traffic, so you can see what's going to run you over.

Against traffic, that way the cars passing closest to you don't come from behind.

Find a jogging - cycling path to jog on.
The road is for cars not for people to run around.
