Perhaps opting for a 'controlled environment' and a sort of 'pseudo-fellowship'?
Just wondering...........i had to ask myself that question this summer............I think i was..........if it is keeping you from true fellowship with those who are put in front of you, you may want to rethink your motives for being here...........I had to ............

I had to laugh because the name of my church is "Real Life Fellowship"! *smile*

On one hand, many studies suggest that escaping "real life" inside a computer is a growing tendency for some people. On a computer, people have a lot more control over themselves and others than in the "real world". They can pretend to be anything they want to be, project whatever image they want to project, and avoid dealing with people they don't like or fear with a simple click of their index finger.

On the other hand, computers are certainly "real" and communication using computers is a fact of "life" in the 21st century. In that context, interacting with people via a computer is "real life fellowship". It may not be the same as physical interaction but in my experience, it can be as valuable and meaningful as a "face-to-face" interaction. I teach online classes and my own research (and the research of others) suggests that the amount of learning in an online class is comparable to the learning in a "real" class. In fact, online learning offers advantages not offered in a real class (just as face-to-face classes offer advantages not offered online).

Face-to-face fellowship may be different but I don't think different necessarily implies better.

I think the Christians on this forum are actually doing more 'witnessing' than almost every Christian in a cemented 'fellowship'.

I give them credit, for putting their faith on the line, where it counts.

I don't agree with them, but know that, at least they are following the teachings of Christ and are 'trying' to spread the good news.

Most Christians in fellowships, enjoy the companionship of other Christians and enjoy their country club lifestyle, patting each other on the back and taking communion together, while not risking their faith or belief.

The Chistians here take a beating and keep on plugging away, and although I think they are misguided, I respect them for it.

No, I still fellowship in real life. I find it easier to sit here in my comfortable clothes, in my comfortable chair, and easy access to various reference items.

Although, I hear what you are saying. Balance the time that you spend with and without your computer. However, would I be able to "talk" with you if I did not have this computer and you had not asked your question in this forum?

Balance...

No. This is not an escape for me. This is a ministry -- answering questions, providing a voice of love to counter some of the hate, caring about the people who are seeking answers to questions.

No I go to church to fellowship, and in my youth group, we always spend time together outside of normal church time.
