Why is it that blood is meant to be so sacred and hence the reason you cant give or take blood?

Why dont you celebrate birthdays ..... i know about xmas and easter.... and i know that you celebrate anniversaries so its a little weird that you dont celebrate birthdays.

And lastly, jahovas witnesses believe that the world is going to end (Or so ive been told) when is that meant to be?? Or is it meant to be when Jahova chooses?

Im just curious.

The bible teaches that blood is sacred because it is the means by which mankind is redeemed.

(Hebrews 9:13,14) How much more will the blood of the Christ, who through an everlasting spirit offered himself without blemish to God, cleanse our consciences from dead works

(Acts 15:20) Write them [the various Christian congregations] to abstain from things polluted by idols and from fornication and from what is strangled and from blood.

(Acts 15:28-29) For the holy spirit and we ourselves have favored adding no further burden to you, except these necessary things, 29 to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication. If you carefully keep yourselves from these things, you will prosper.

Regarding birthday celebrations, bible students are encouraged to consider:
: 0% of faithful biblical Jews celebrated birthdays
: 0% of first century Christians celebrated birthdays
: 100% of birthdays celebrated in the bible were by debauched enemies of God (See Mark 6:17-29; Gen 40:19-22)
Bible historians (M'Clintock, Strong, and others) have noted that faithful Jews of the bible did not celebrate birthdays, and that ancient pagan birthday celebrations were at least partially intended to honor the patron gods of the particular day. By comparison with such paganisms, the bible does not even tell us the birthdates of Jesus or ANY of his apostles!

Most holidays derive from nationalism or false religion, and so are incompatible with pure worship. For example, Easter derives from the pagan god Oestre and celebrates "rebirth" and "fertility".

Armageddon will not mean the end of this planet, or of humankind. This "conclusion of the system of things" is associated with "the Lord's Day" (also known as Christ's "presence" or "advent" or "second coming"). Jehovah's Witnesses believe the bible to teach that the Lord's Day began in 1914 and the subsequent decades have revealed the fulfillment of nearly every prophecy leading to the "great tribulation" and Armageddon. Yet the bible teaches that Armageddon will come at an unknown time.

Regarding 1914, the Scriptures do show that Jesus sat on the throne of the Messianic Kingship that year. In hindsight, most of humankind can see the historic upheaval that began with World War I. Jehovah's Witnesses believe that mankind in general has seen a wide range of specific signs since 1914, and that anyone can perceive these as significant without even opening a bible.

Yet the bible DOES comment upon it! Jesus foretold this specific collection of signs as evidence that his "presence" or so-called 'second coming' had arrived. Jehovah's Witnesses believe that "presence" to be Jesus' presence as the King of God's Kingdom. Citations are from both New World Translation (NWT) and Youngs Literal Translation (YLT).

(Matthew 24:3, NWT) disciples approached [Jesus] privately, saying: "Tell us, When will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence
(Matthew 24:3, YLT) the disciples came near to [Jesus], saying, 'Tell us, when shall these be? and what is the sign of thy presence...?

(Luke 21:7,24, NWT) Teacher, when will these things actually be, and what will be the sign when these things are destined to occur?
(Luke 21:7,24, YLT) Teacher, when, then, shall these things be? and what is the sign when these things may be about to happen?'

Amazingly, since the 1870's, Jehovah's Witnesses had recognized 1914 as a significant year according to the chronology indicated in bible prophecy. Decades before 1914, Witnesses noted that Jesus' discussion of his second "coming", or second "presence" specifically mentions "the appointed times of the nations", which Jehovah's Witnesses believe to be a centuries-long period of relative godlessness when God's rulership through the Davidic kingship was interrupted (the line of hereditary kings beginning with King David of Israel). Jehovah's Witnesses recognize that the Davidic kingship ended in 607 BCE when Jerusalem fell to Babylon, and would begin again during the fulfillment of the composite "sign" of Matthew 24 and Luke 21.

(Luke 21:24, NWT) Jerusalem [or 'Davidic kingship'] will be trampled on by the nations, until the appointed times of the nations are fulfilled.
(Luke 21:24, YLT) Jerusalem [or 'Davidic kingship'] shall be trodden down by nations, till the times of nations be fulfilled.

How long would "the appointed times of the nations" last? Daniel chapter 4 contains a prophecy in which God's rulership, through the Davidic kings is represented by a "tree". That tree is kept down for "seven times", which seems to be seven periods of 360 "days" (See Rev 12:6,14). So Daniel 4:15 seems to be referring to 2520 "days" when God's governmental rulership would not be seen.

(Daniel 4:11-17, NWT) The tree grew up and became strong, and its very height finally reached the heavens, and it was visible to the extremity of the whole earth. ...14 He ["a holy one"] was calling out loudly, and this is what he was saying: "CHOP the tree down... 15 However, LEAVE its rootstock itself in the earth... let seven times pass over it. 17 ...that people living may know that the Most High is Ruler in the kingdom of mankind and that to the one whom he wants to, he gives it and he sets up over it even the lowliest one of mankind.
(Daniel 4:11-17, YLT) Become great hath the tree, yea, strong, and its height doth reach to the heavens, and its vision to the end of the whole land...14 He ["a holy one"] is calling mightily, and thus hath said, Cut down the tree...15 but the stump of its roots leave in the earth...and seven times pass over him; 17 ...that the living may know that the Most High is ruler in the kingdom of men, and to whom He willeth He giveth it, and the lowest of men He doth raise up over it.

But in history, 2520 days is not a significant amount of time. Jehovah's Witnesses look to Scriptures such as Num 14:34 and Ez 4:6 and re-examine the history using 2520 YEARS instead. From 607 BCE to 1914 CE is 2520 years; so many significant things happened that year, and World War I was only one part!.

I'd like to start with the last question first - we don't believe that the world will be destroyed. But will - as in Noah's day be rid of the wicked people, leaving only the ones who Jehovah decides are worthy. Jehovah purposed that the earth is where man should live, that's where he created Adam and Eve and told them to be fruitful and fill the earth. After God destroyed the bad people in Noah's time he told Noah the same thing he had told Adam - to fill the earth. (Gen 1:28; 9:1)

Birthdays are not celebrated because the Bible only makes reference to two birthdays. One was Pharaoh of Egypt (18th century B.C.E.) and the other was Herod Antipas (1st century C.E.). At both of these occasions they were marked with executions. The hanging of the chief baker in the first and the beheading of John the Baptizer at the other. Early Christians did not celebrate or memorialize the birthday of their Savior, much less would they celebrate their own day of birth. Historian Augustus Neander writes: “The notion of a birthday festival was far from the ideas of the Christians of this period.” (The History of the Christian Religion and Church, During the Three First Centuries, translated by H. J. Rose, 1848, p. 190) “Origen [a writer of the third century C.E.] . . . insists that ‘of all the holy people in the Scriptures, no one is recorded to have kept a feast or held a great banquet on his birthday. It is only sinners (like Pharaoh and Herod) who make great rejoicings over the day on which they were born into this world below.’”—The Catholic Encyclopedia, 1913, Vol. X, p. 709. Christ told us to celebrate his death, he said nothing about his birth.

Blood is sacred to us. God’s Word reveals an intimate relationship between life and blood, saying: “The soul [or life] of the flesh is in the blood.” Just as life is sacred, so, too, God has made blood sacred. It is something that belongs to him, to be used only in the manner he approves. (Lev. 17:3, 4, 11; Deut. 12:23) So we do well to consider carefully what he requires of us with regard to blood. We do not want to die. But if we tried to save our present life by breaking God’s law, we would be in danger of losing everlasting life. And actually it's been found that our not taking a blood transfusion protects us from many things, including not having to take blood rejection medicines, not having to worry about contracting deseases like AIDS or Hepatitis. Doctors are beginning to see that bloodless surgery brings quicker healing times. We do use other methods to save our lives, like blood expanders.

I hope that I have answered your questions. I would be glad to answer more.

the reason blood is considered sacred, is not by us, but by Jehovah god himself. being the creator of all things, he stated how he felt blood was what ran his animal creation and thus was sacred to to that animal or person and should stay to that person. when it leaves the body it loses its worth in his eyes, so to speak. so things like eating it or using it is a sin to him.
Gen. 9:4.
basically, blood symbolizes the life of the creature, and by showing respect for life, we respect the creator of life.

also this respect for blood is a protection for us, we can use modern day machines and technology that minipulates our own blood to better help us in the surgery room ( depending on how far or if it exits the body, and such is mostly a personal conscious matter) don't have to use real donated blood nowadays, and so can avoid the diseases, problems, and contamination that are in them.

birthdays,
the reason we don't celebrate most holidays is from looking back at there origin. birthdays, like modern day easter and christmas have pagan roots, birthdays too have a long history of false religion and were first created as a way to ward off spirits and things like that. so, its just best to avoid such things in general, to not take any chances with displeasing Jehovah by following practices or traditions that where used in false worship, and that the first century Christians hadn't followed.

for the last part, although Jehvoh's witnesses have had guesses based on bible prophesy over the years, the great day of Armageddon brought out in the bible is to no man to know for sure. (matthew 24:36), and don't worry, its not the end of the world or anything as many feel nowadays, but just a cleansing of 'the wicked on the earth' so that the meek can enherit it. (psalms 37:11) god feels that those who bring en jury to his people, and to the earth justfully have to be removed, so his people can be safe, and happy. (proverbs 21:18) and so it goes right along with his love and justice.

Why we don´t celebrate birthday, simple following Jesus´s example we never see him celebreting even his own birthday nor his disciples, also we don´t see in the bible people prior Jesus´s time doing the same only two are mentionated in the bible and with negative concequences.

about the end of the world is not that the earth is going to be destroyed it is a change of rulership Armageddor is the destruction of Evil rulership of Satan and change to the rulership of Jesus Christ.

Jesus began to rule among his enemies in 1914 as Psalms 110:1 says, but the period of time that began with that date will finish with the armageddon exactly as Jesus told in Matthew 24:3-14... but of course you know that... and you don´t believe that the earth is going to be transform in a paradise... then what is your hope Carol D?

Acts 15:28, 29: “The holy spirit and we ourselves [the governing body of the Christian congregation] have favored adding no further burden to you,

Please notice that the JW organization's position is that the "we ourselves" is the Govening Body of THEIR organization (The WBTS). They are equating themselves with the apostles. However, contrary to this scripture sited, they have seen no problem with adding further burdens onto their followers.

I applaud your asking for their beliefs as to these topics, but, a more important question is, are their justifications soundly within the scope of scriptures. Or are they taken out of context and expanded upon by their governing body?

I noticed that one answerer states that Jesus does not celebrate his own birth in scripture so why should we? Jesus also does not celebrate his parents anniversary, so why do they? It may be picking straws here, but this is exactly what they are doing. They are doing just what Jesus said to the Pharisees, they make the law of God invalid by their traditions and rules.

To your last question, they have given MANY dates as to the "end" throughout their existance as an organization. However your final statement within that question hits the nail on the head, IT IS JEHOVAH"S CHOOSING.

Moises, I thought Jesus began ruling in 1914??? which is it, 1914 or after armageddon???

Acts 15:28, 29: “The holy spirit and we ourselves [the governing body of the Christian congregation] have favored adding no further burden to you, except these necessary things, to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled [or, killed without draining their blood] and from fornication. If you carefully keep yourselves from these things, you will prosper. Good health to you!” (There the eating of blood is equated with idolatry and fornication, things that we should not want to engage in.)

Gen. 9:3, 4: “Every moving animal that is alive may serve as food for you. As in the case of green vegetation, I do give it all to you. Only flesh with its soul—its blood—you must not eat.

Does the Bible’s prohibition include human blood? Yes, and early Christians understood it that way. Acts 15:29 says to “keep abstaining from . . . blood.” It does not say merely to abstain from animal blood. (Compare Leviticus 17:10, which prohibited eating “any sort of blood.”) Tertullian (who wrote in defense of the beliefs of early Christians) stated: “The interdict upon ‘blood’ we shall understand to be (an interdict) much more upon human blood.”—The Ante-Nicene Fathers, Vol. IV, p. 86.
In a hospital, when a patient cannot eat through his mouth, he is fed intravenously. Now, would a person who never put blood into his mouth but who accepted blood by transfusion really be obeying the command to “keep abstaining from . . . blood”?

There are two b-day celebrations mentioned in the Bible...both are being celebrated by pagan kings of the time and at each one, well, see for yourself. Gen. 40:20-22: “Now on the third day it turned out to be Pharaoh’s birthday, and he proceeded to make a feast . . . Accordingly he returned the chief of the cupbearers to his post of cupbearer . . . But the chief of the bakers he hung up.”

Matt. 14:6-10: “When Herod’s birthday was being celebrated the daughter of Herodias danced at it and pleased Herod so much that he promised with an oath to give her whatever she asked. Then she, under her mother’s coaching, said: ‘Give me here upon a platter the head of John the Baptist.’ . . . He sent and had John beheaded in the prison.”

Everything that is in the Bible is there for a reason. (2 Tim. 3:16, 17) Jehovah’s Witnesses take note that God’s Word reports unfavorably about birthday celebrations and so shun these.

Lastly, we do not believe the 'world is going to end', but that this system of things is going to end. The world will continue as God has purposed. It will be filled with faithful believers in God, the meek who've inherited the earth.

Jehovah's Witnesses—Who Are They? What Do They Believe?

What Do They Believe?

EARTH . . . created by Jehovah . . . cared for by man . . . inhabited forever
JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES believe in Almighty God, Jehovah, Creator of the heavens and the earth. The very existence of the intricately designed wonders in the universe surrounding us reasonably argues that a supremely intelligent and powerful Creator produced it all. Just as the works of men and women reflect their qualities, so do those of Jehovah God. The Bible tells us that "his invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world's creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made." Also, without voice or words, "the heavens are declaring the glory of God."—Romans 1:20; Psalm 19:1-4.

People do not mold clay pots or make television sets and computers without a purpose. The earth and its creations of plant and animal life are far more marvelous. The structure of the human body with its trillions of cells is beyond our understanding—even the brain with which we think is incomprehensibly wonderful! If men have a purpose in bringing forth their comparatively insignificant inventions, surely Jehovah God had a purpose in his awesome creations! Proverbs 16:4 says that he does: "Everything Jehovah has made for his purpose."

Jehovah made the earth for a purpose, as he stated to the first human pair: "Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth . . . , have in subjection the fish of the sea and the flying creatures of the heavens and every living creature that is moving upon the earth." (Genesis 1:28) Because they became disobedient, this couple failed to fill the earth with righteous families who would lovingly care for the earth and its plants and animals. But their failure does not make Jehovah's purpose fail. Thousands of years later, it was written: "God, the Former of the earth . . . , did not create it simply for nothing." He "formed it even to be inhabited." It is not to be destroyed, but "the earth endures for ever." (Isaiah 45:18; Ecclesiastes 1:4, The New English Bible) Jehovah's purpose for the earth will be realized: "My own counsel will stand, and everything that is my delight I shall do."—Isaiah 46:10.

Hence, Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the earth will remain forever and that all people, living and dead, who will fit in with Jehovah's purpose for a beautified, inhabited earth may live on it forever. All mankind inherited imperfection from Adam and Eve and, hence, are sinners. (Romans 5:12) The Bible tells us: "The wages sin pays is death." "The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all." "The soul that is sinning—it itself will die." (Romans 6:23; Ecclesiastes 9:5; Ezekiel 18:4, 20) Then how can they live again to share in the earthly blessings? Only through the ransom sacrifice of Christ Jesus, for he said: "I am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life." "All those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out."—John 5:28, 29; 11:25; Matthew 20:28.

How will this come about? It is explained in "the good news of the kingdom," which Jesus started to proclaim while on earth. (Matthew 4:17-23) But today Jehovah's Witnesses are preaching the good news in a very special way.

But we are all like an unclean thing,
And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags;
We all fade as a leaf,
And our iniquities, like the wind,
Have taken us away. Isaiah 64:6

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Eph. 2:8-9

Scripture says…

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Eph. 2:8-9

For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. Romans 11:29

The Holy Spirit is a force, not alive, Reasoning from the Scriptures, 1985, pp.
406-407.

Scripture says…

1. Jehovah's Witnesses teach that the Holy Spirit is an active force like radar. They deny that He is alive, that He is a person. This is, of course, because they deny the Trinity. Yet, if the Holy Spirit is simply a force then...
1. Why is He called God (Acts 5:3-5)?
2. How is it that He can teach (John 14:26)?
3. How can He be blasphemed (Matt. 12:31,32)?
4. How can be the one who comforts (Acts 9:31)?
5. How is it possible for Him to speak (Acts 28:25)?
6. How then can He be resisted (Acts 7:51)?
7. How can He be grieved (Eph. 4:30)?
8. How can He help us in our weaknesses (Rom. 8:26)?
2. If the Holy Spirit is a force, then how is it possible that the above mentioned phenomena are attributed to Him? A force doesn't speak, teach, comfort, etc.
3. Nor can you blaspheme against a force.

There is no hell of fire where the wicked are punished, Let God be True, p. 79, 80.

Scripture says…

But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” Rev. 21:8

Luke 16:19-31

In no way, shape, or form does JW doctrine align with the Bible.

And the LORD said to me, “The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart. Jer. 14:14

I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. Gal. 1:6-9

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works. 2 Cor. 11:13-15

But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. 2 Pet. 2:1

Bread gained by deceit is sweet to a man,
But afterward his mouth will be filled with gravel. Prov. 20:17

And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Tim. 3:16-17
