Why would God send us to hell for an enternity to be tortured and burned if he loves us unconditional? What would be the purpose in it? If God layed down rules and we didnt follow them, why wouldnt God just wipe us from existance? Why would he torture us?

These are good answers thank you. But someone said we send our selves to Hell, If God created all things that would include hell if it truely exist, we couldnt just end up in Hell, God would have to make a decision if we went there or not, So in terms that would mean he sent us there. Also someone made a reference to punishing your own children. Would u allow your own children to be tortured and burned as a form of punishment??? Its insane! I believe hell was an instrument the church used back in the past days to scare the citizens of whatever nation into believing what they wanted you to believe. Control the mind, control the person

I'm not sure about the unconditional love thing either. If anything in the old testament he killed off a lot of his people. Look at Noah's story. He drown all those people. Now whats up with that

I've asked this question many times. Hell is so repulsive a spiritual belief to me and one of the things that does not make Christianity a religion I can embrace as my own.

As a mother I often ask myself if my own child were to disobey me would I burn them and torture them for as long as they live. It makes me want to vomit just thinking of such a thing. . I cannot imagine watching MY offspring, no matter how rebellious, troublesome etc, burning and suffering and crying out to me and doing nothing. How SICK is that!

I am just a human and even this is repulsive. I find that I can be capable of forgiveness and mercy even if I have been screamed at and rejected by my kids. Certainly my Creator must be INFINITELY more merciful and grand-hearted than I.

How can I be pursuaded to worship a version of a Diety that is less merciful than I am?

My God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, is an all forgiving God. There may be times when a form of punishment (Hell) may be necessary. I'm just not sure about the "eternity" thing. Still a Bible student in learning.

In my opinion, punishment rather than wiping us from all existence is a form of love.

Matthew 7:8
For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

In my belief , this passage would also encompass forgiveness, if one truly wants it and repents.

Certainly you've answered your own question. God would not do that. There is no 'hell' as a place of eternal suffering. It is simply the common grave of mankind. The Bible is clear that 'the wages sin pays is death'. There's nothing about this place of fire. It also says 'he who has died is acquitted of his sin'. Solomon said 'the living are aware of death, but the dead are conscience of nothing'.

It would be unjust to punish someone for eternity for sin committed during life. Adam was told that for his sin he would surely die, and that was all. There was no further threat, or retaliation...simply death.

Becasue that is a LIE spread by the churches to recruit and brainwash people. An all loving being would never do such a thing. ETERNAL PUNISHMENT FOR FINITE SINS DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE ANYWAY.

God doesn't send people to hell. They send themselves by loving sin more than a Holy God!

Hell is just the grave. It's a mistranslation.

have you ever read the old testament? If so, where did you find evidence of an 'infinite being of unconditional love'? *lol*
