That they talk bad about God when they don't even know him? They say he is hateful, self centered, egotistically, a lier, evil and much more. We Christians are his children and he is our father. We know him and that he is good, giving, forgiving and loving. And no offense, but he's earned the right to be worshipped. If you created the universe, were omipitent, omnipresent and could do anything you would be worthy of worship, too. How would you feel if someone started talking crap about your father or a family member that you knew and loved and you knew it wasn't true? You wouldn't like it, to say the least. If you want to say he doesn't exist, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. But to say bad about someone you don't even know is very low by anyone's standards.

Daughter, who is your God? I say I don't believe in another God but I never say he is evil, a lier, a murderer, egotistical etc. And I don't ever preach hell. You are grouping me in with something I haven't done.

Daughter - I checked out all your links. That's terrible! I sincerely mean that. I'm sorry for you. I don't know what religion all those people were. Shame on them if any Christian said any of those hateful things.

Er, you're apparently quite confused.

There are no gods.

I talk with my family members, they talk to me, we exchange photographs and see each other on holidays. If I decided to devote my life to imaginary family members, I'd deserve ridicule.

Given your deep dishonesty, you're not exactly in a position to be talking about anyone else's standards.
=================
Er, your "example" merely demonstrates that you don't understand what we're talking about here. That guy wasn't talking about any real "god" - he was talking about believers' claims about their imaginary gods.

Regardless, I do not need to be "forgiven" for calling you dishonest, because you were dishonest. Look at your original question - you lied your way right through it, from start to finish. There isn't any "god", and your claim to "know him" is just simply lying.

If you don't like being called "dishonest", you might consider trying to be honest. Bashing others isn't exactly an adult way to respond, kid.

They hated Him. they WILL hate us. They will also hate anyone related to Him, Jews, Christians.
I echo all that you shared in such a heart felt way. It gets very annoying and painful to see the utter hate and evil words spoken regarding our God and Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the precious abiding Holy Spirit. We will all be held accountable for our words before this very God one day.

Matthew 28:20
"For I say to you that every idle word which men speak they wil render an account concerning it in the day of judgement"

Kayne it just shows that satan has truly blinded the eyes of men and women. That they cannot see to be able to receive this wonderful God to be their own. To enjoy His rich grace to them each day. They will go through their whole lives not realizing what a treasure they have thrown away.
Like you sister.. I do not preach the hell gospel. Most everyone know that truth regarding this matter. But you know sis.. i have found that for anyone to be reached, the strong man.. the hold that the enemy has on their minds need to be prayed OFF them. The Strong man needs to be bound up by the POwer of the Lord Jesus and all that He has done for these forum friends here in R and S.
May His Love be deeply shed abroad in our hearts.
Came across this verse in Luke 6:35
But love your enemies and do good and lend. Expecting nothing in return and your reward will be great. And you will be sons of the Most High. For He is KIND to the unthankful and evil"
wow.. what a God we love and give our hearts to sister Kayne. Lets keep praying that at least a few will be lead out of this Kingdom of Darkness under satan's control and INTO the Kingdom of the Son of His love..

Your sister

We are ALL GOD'S children like it or not even the non-believers, and you shouldn't bash them back if you are a true Christian. Let them say what they have to say, your not the judge, the big guy upstairs will take care of it when their time comes. I don't think God intended us to fight or bad mouth each other. Besides scientifically they make some good points, Christian's live by what the bible says, not a bad thing, but the bible was written by man, so why should we honestly believe what they wrote is God's word? back then I am sure their imaginations ran wild and somethings were stretched to seem so magical or divine, and others were drawn to it, and that's OK I understand. Religion brings peace to some, nothing wrong with that some people need to believe in something to explain why things are the way they are, others believe the scientific explanations which I am sure God has no problem with either, since he is the creator, as long as we all believe in something it shouldn't matter. God gave us free will, what we do with it is up to us, God will not intervene.

I feel that anyone who would willingly believe in eternal suffering for all those that aren't of a certain faith is lacking in morals.

You make many claims about how your God has "earnt" the right to be worshipped. The major problem is your claims are no better founded than those who would describe your God as the merciless genocidal source of all suffering.

So there is a standoff you have your views I have mine. I don't like your God, and you're indifferent to mine(apart from the assumption mine is false). I don't however believe you will be punished for your miss guided belief, if anything pitied.

You put a great deal of thought into your question, so as not to be contentious, or offensive. I totally agree with your reasoning. I have not, nor have I seen you post anything insulting to others belief system, or lack thereof. It seems like it is socially acceptable to mock our Christian faith, but watch out if someone mocks another belief. The biggest beef I have is Christians who bring dishonor to the one they claim to worship. "Fundies" is thrown around as an insult, and I have yet to see anyone question the political correctness of that term, but try generalizing with some of the other categories of people who believe differently. I will consider every thumb down a vote for intolerance.

As an atheist, I must say that you have it all wrong. I was christian, studied the bible, went to church, questioned and got no answers. I probably know the bible better than most christians, that's how I know it is junk. We never say god is hateful. We say he is imaginary, fake, made-up. I ask any christian to debate the bible with me. I, like many atheists, will win the debate because we know not just those verses read in church, but all the other verses that are mean, contradictory and just dumb.

I knew god, but like any imaginary friend, I grew out of him. If you need god though, I understand that, many people need him. Believing gives many people hope. Hope that this is not it. Hope that thing will be better, even if it is in the next life. I just ask people to question their beliefs. If you question and reaffirm your beliefs, them keep believing. If you question and don't get the answers that you want, then think about it. I questioned and got the wrong answers to believe anymore.

I have skimmed over the answers given in reponse to this question and have answers to many of the misconceptions presented, however I will only address one or two.

Obviously, not all un-believers speak of our God(Jesus),in a disrespecful manner. We as Christians should be offended, when this does occur, and have a right to speak out,but our main goal is in defense of God's word, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus, himself stated that all manner of sin would be forgiven men, even speaking out against Him(Jesus)but that Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, would not be forgiven..The Holy Spirit came into the world to convince men of sin and to lead them to God,who will forgive those who are sincere in accepting the attonement provided by Jesus Christ on the cross by grace though faith.

As to the "Children Of God". In one sense, yes we are all children of God,as were are his creation..However God is only Father to those who are adopted,(once again) by grace though faith. In other words when we are drawn to God,by the Holy Spirit(Grace) and chose to hear,(our God given will) in responding to the message of the Gospel, by our acceptence of Jesus Christ,we become sons and daughters of the living God,through adoption..

Similarly,I am an adopted child and am the biological child of a man, whom I never knew...There was another, who was to be my Father,by his choice in adopting me and by my choice in accepting him.. This is not a perfect analogy,I am aware, but the point made is clear, hopefully.

I am sorry, but I am an Atheist, since I do not believe any god(s) exist I never "say he is hateful, self centered, egotistically, a lier, evil and much more".

There is no god, so how can it have any character traits? I think occasionally one of you should open a non bible, like oh I dunno, a DICTIONARY and look up the word Atheist.

How can we "say something bad" with any seriousness, about something imaginary?

I understand exactly how you feel...I've been meaning to write a question like this but didn't know how to word it. Especially on yahoo answers so many people feel the freedom to speak out about things they don't understand. This atheist website I went to had this list of "facts" proving God's nonexistance and every question was like why doesn't God regrow the legs of amputees?? or why does God let there be so much suffering??? You don't understand God until you have a personal relationship with him.

FOR SHAME!

You're at LEVEL 6! You HAD To have figured out by now that many of us are former Christians who have read your Bible and found it to be disagreeable or unsettling.

I did.

God was a murderer and a crybaby. He's an egomaniac, and CERTAINLY no friend of humanity. LOL- the story has a so-called bad guy too! Satan kills a few people- god kills THOUSANDS!

We wouldn't talk this way if it wasn't written in your book.
