Because of the actress Rebecca Schaeffer's death due to a obsessed fan tracking her down through her License plate most states have passed laws restricting access to this data and don't give it out except for law enforcement agencies.

That's nice, but unfortunately that information isn't available to the public. The guy you cut in front of on the highway this morning could use your license plate number to find out your information and be waiting for you in your driveway when you get home. That's why they don't allow everyone to access that information.

I don't believe you would be able to get this information unless you know a cop or someone in the dmv. Even then they should not be giving you this information, your intentions may be fine but there a lots of people that would be using this information to stalk people or worse. Would you want some one to get your name and address from your license #?

well i know here in Florida cops done mind giving out info. i had someone show up at my door one day because they were stupid wrote my insurance info down wrong.

Call your state's DMV dept---usually you can get that info for a fee.
