1) Kids are told not to pray.
2) They're brainwashed into believing liberal "theories" like humans evolving from monkeys.
3) They're taught that homosexuality is "natural", eventhough it's never been documented outside of the human species.

I think we, as a society, have gotten to the point where we need to ask the proverbial question.....Is the Children learning?

teaching moral values isn't something that teachers in a public school system are told to do. obviously they aren't told to pray because there are so many different religious beliefs, if any at all. that doesn't mean that they can't or that praying is banned from public schools.
secondly, kids are not brainwashed into liberal theories. they're told to speak their minds and have their own beliefs and opinions...theories of evolution may be discussed...but not to the point of brainwashing.
and issues that you have with homosexuality are all on your own. get with it...people accept homosexuality now because it is a natural thing. and it has been documented outside of the human species :

"Homosexual behavior by both sexes has also been observed in wild and domestic dogs when females are in heat. Homosexual acts occur in countless animal societies, but more interesting is that long-term homosexual bonds exist beyond humanity as well. Male and female homosexual pairs form in numerous primates, mainly chimpanzees and orangutans and these pairs will "remain faithful" to each other for many years. Male dolphins will also form long lasting unions in which the couple, even though they are part of a larger group, will only perform mating-like, or stimulatory behavior on each other"

and yes, the children ARE learning.

First of all, it is not the public schools place to teach morals anyway. The schools are to teach information, facts and theories. It is a family's place to teach children morals.

Second, you are incorrect in all three of your statements.
1) Kids are told not to pray.
Not so. Public schools are merely not supposed to lead students in anyway in religion, but kids can pray on their own all they want in school.
2) They're brainwashed into believing liberal "theories" like humans evolving from monkeys.
They are not brainwashed into believing anything. They are simply educated into the scientific theory of evolution. It is up to the parents to teach any religious beliefs and up to the kids to decide for themselves what they do or do not believe.
3) They're taught that homosexuality is "natural", eventhough it's never been documented outside of the human species.
Again incorrect. Other animals have been documented performing homosexual acts.

1. Just because we pray, that doesn't ensure that we have moral values. Values are something we choose to accept and really has nothing to do with prayer. (Please note: organized mandatory public school prayer is not necessary, children can pray within their minds, they don't need to put on a public spectacle, and forcing someone to pray who doesn't feel moved to do so is pointless.)

2. Brainwashing......occurs as often or more, in organized Christianity. I believe that our Creator used evolution as the process for creation. In this respect, creation is still happening, and we are connected to every living creature on this planet, through millions of years of evolutionary cycles. The picture is never black or white, either/or, but truth is often found in the middle, in balance. The Creator has an organized process.....evolution.

3. I'm not sure where you get your data, but homosexuality has been documented in animal studies, and occurs naturally in about 12 % of the population, including humans. If you understand the biological basis for this 12% the you might have a different perspective. As an embryo, everyone begins as female, because of the Y chromozome, a hormone is released after 6 weeks, that causes the growth of the male genitals. 6 weeks later another hormone is released that causes the sexing of the brain. Sometimes, the hormones are not released in the second stage as intended.

Please note that there are also environmental factors that can contribute to homosexuality as well. Everyone is different. The bottom line is that the schools are teaching tolerance, respect for others right to choose. This is the foundation of God, as we have been given the freedom of choice. We should also extend this freedom to other human beings.

What is a sin in the eyes of man, may not be a sin in the eyes of God.

You really mean "why don't they teach kids the moral values I think they should have," don't you?

There are plenty of schools that attempt to teach ethics to some degree, such as compassion, tolerance, courage, honesty -- moral values that we can generally agree are important.

To answer your specifics: they are not taught not to pray. They are simply not taught TO pray. As any number of people have pointed out, as long as there are exams, there will be silent prayers in public schools. Some schools include a minute or two of silence for reflection, meditation or prayer. This does not involve favoring any one religion above another.

Humans did not evolve from monkeys. But we are both primates, and evolved from a common ancestor a VERY long time ago.

Homosexuality has been documented outside of humans: most notably in sea gulls. But even if it were only natural to humans, it is indeed natural to those who feel it early in their lives, often long before they know anything much about sex. Some people come to homosexuality by way of bad experiences with heterosexuality, but most are drawn to members of their own sex very early on, and never develop a significant interest in the opposite sex. And then there are the bisexuals, who can get pleasure from intimate contact with either sex. This too is natural; many of us argue it is the most natural of all.

"Is the Children learning?"

Obviously you need to go back to school and learn to pluralize a verb.

1) Kids can pray in school if they so choose. My son prays all the time in private. If you need permission to pray then you are really pathetic. If however you want to engage in public worship in school, you will have a problem.

2) Evolution is not a liberal theory. It is accepted by the vast majority of scientists as a solid theory and field of research and any kid who wants to pursue the earth sciences MUST have a sound knowledge of it to be accepted into ANY degree programme in those subjects.

3) Homosexuality has been well documented outside the animal kingdom. After extensive research the University Of Cambridge discovered that same-sex sexual interactions are common-place in the wild and the phenomena yielded important insights into genetic, hormonal and neural correlates. Some of the creatures in which homosexual interaction has been observed are: birds, dolphin, deer, bison and cats, as well as monkeys and apes, such as macaques, gorillas and bonobos. There are sound reasons why this happens; social bonding, sexual practice by minors and population control without stressing those who will not get to reproduce.

If you are not a troll and really believe what you are saying, well, I feel a little sorry for you.

Morals should never be part of a public schools curriculum. Morals are something people develop over time. Not something that should be taught as "right " or "wrong".

And if you do support morals being taught in the public school system, whose morals are to be taught? Yours? Mine? Christians? Buddhists, Pagans, athests, etc???

And for the record...

1. Kids can pray in school...on their own time
2. Right now the theory of evolution is the best we have. It's more logical than we all came from dirt.
3. You're wrong...homosexual acts are widely demonstrated in the animal kingdom. Watch National Geographic some time.

The children is learning.....the learning is secular. There's nothing wrong with that.

1) Kids are NOT told "not to pray". The school just doesn't lead it. Prayer is an individual matter left up to each student. Students are free to pray, alone or in groups, during non-instructional time.

(excerpt from Prayer in Public schools, a joint statement of Pulbic law) -------------------------------------------------------------------

Student Prayers

1. Students have the right to pray individually or in groups or to discuss their religious views with their peers so long as they are not disruptive. Because the Establishment Clause does not apply to purely private speech, students enjoy the right to read their Bibles or other scriptures, say grace before meals, pray before tests, and discuss religion with other willing student listeners. In the classroom students have the right to pray quietly except when required to be actively engaged in school activities (e.g., students may not decide to pray just as a teacher calls on them). In informal settings, such as the cafeteria or in the halls, students may pray either audibly or silently, subject to the same rules of order as apply to other speech in these locations. However, the right to engage in voluntary prayer does not include, for example, the right to have a captive audience listen or to compel other students to participate.---------------------------------------------------

2.) Students are taught the scientific theory of evolution. It is science not a religion, and really has more bearing on morals than "brainwashing" children in algebra.

3.) I don't know about classes in the "naturalness" of homosexuality, but it HAS been documented in animals, so you are wrong on the second point.

Schools can and often do have character education programs. Many also have anti-bullying programs. Many of these are OPPOSED by Christians, because they aren't SPECIFICALLY based on the bible. Christians DON"T want moral values taught, they want students INDOCTRINATED into fundamentalist Christianity, these are two separate things.

Schools also teach correct grammar. Were you homeschooled ? Your last sentence "Is the Children learning" should be "Are the children learning".

1) Children are not told not to pray. They just don't lead children in prayer in school. If you can't understand the difference, you're a moron.
2) While evolution is a fact, the idea that we came from monkeys isn't necessarily a fact within the fact. Simply because that's the major theory within evolution of human existence, doesn't mean that evolution is all about that.
3) Homosexuality -is- natural. It's a natural population control. Weak genes kill themselves and refuse to mate for procreation for the good of the species. That's natural selection for you, and I would expect you to agree with that rationale.

So, schools are now supposed to teach morals too? Schools are to teach knowledge, PARENTS are to teach morals.
as for you points:
1. Kids are not told "not to pray". they can pray to themselves if they want, but prayers are not to be done by the school. If they were done by the schools, which religion are they supposed to follow? Yours?
2. If the can't teach the theory of evolution, what are they to teach? The theory of christian creationism?
3. Have you ever looked into homosexuality outside our species? If you have, you would see that you are wrong. There is homosexuality documented in most species. There was just a study to try to figure out why they couldn't get rams to mate. Here is the link: http://www.slate.com/id/2158877/nav/tap1/

No child is told not to pray. They are simply not led in prayer since religious views vary from person to person & the state has no authority to institute a particular religion. Read the Constitution. Um, this liberal theory of evolution is a fact. Pull your head out of the sand. There are other species that practice homosexuality. Look up bonano monkeys
