Actually, I think that it's "extreme jealousy" that turns them off....you see, women actually want to be valued but they dont want to feel like a simple possession......that's the thin line alot of guys have trouble balancing on and that's what makes women sick.....any woman that tells you they dont want a guy to show some reaction (even negative) when they get "friendly" with another guy is kidding themselves on some level.....they want you to let them know how much you value them without making an **** out of yourself.......trust me, they (women) know the difference between insecurity and plain ol jealousy

Jealousy isn't bad--it's a normal human reaction. However, I do agree with a few other answers that showing extreme behavior in the jealousy department is not something that keeps women around.
It can also depend on the situation--is the guy getting jealous of a stranger or a known platonic friend? That can make a difference too.
My husband is the extreme jealous type and I don't like it one bit.

Yes it is a sign of insecurity. When a girl or women is jealous it means they are not feeling to good about them selfs at that moments. Or it can just be they just don't like the other person. But that is rare. It's mostly because she is insecure.

To an extent jealousy is a sign of insecurity. However, if a couple has a bit of jealousy in their relationship, I see no harm in that. However, many times extreme jealousy turns to controlling behavior, then to even worse things such as abuse both physically and mentally. That part is what makes it scary.

jealousy is the sign of an insecure man.. most of time also displaying the nature to control in said "man" and in such cases of jealousy it imposes limits on the female counterpart that are unwarranted, you are her bf, not her dad, limits due to jealousy are the same as controlling.... and no-one should be controlled, and be told what they can or cannot do (excluding cheating.. but we already knew that)... but in simple terms you being jealous is telling her that you want her to do what you say and thats it, and her life is now limited by your irrational behavior and insecurities... which is why women despise jealousy... because it negatively effects her life... from her perspective : just being nice and having a conversation with another individual ... and by your (jealous "man"): she is trying to start a relationship with someone else right in front of you (self doubt, self doubt) then anger.... and by your actions you have now set a limit on her to who she can talk to... get it...

They aren't necessarily turned off by it. Some woman will stick around and try to help the guy with his insecurities. I guess it depends on the level of jealousy.
I kind of think jealous guys are cute.

there is a fine line in jealousy I want my BF to care enough about me to want to protect me but if I were to talk to another guy ( just a conversqation) then NO he has gone way to far and I don't like that it can also be a sign f insecurity

Insecurity is only part of it. You need to just let a woman be herself, and be happy when you are out with her, if others seem to enjoy being around her, there must be a reason. Remember, if you are the one leaving with her, then you are the lucky one!

Yep. Insecurity, possessiveness, immaturity, lack of trust, weakness. . . all those good things. Jealousy is a colossal waste of time and energy.

Some girls like a little bit of jealousy because it shows that the guy cares about them. Do not go overboard though.
