I'm a Christian and I've always stated there is validity in evolution. I certainly didn't need the pope's confirmation for me to acknowledge the evidence. I don't judge another, I can only judge myself. Good luck. 2D

Pope John Paul II did not "embrace" evolution. He said that it is OK to believe Evolution so long as you also believe that God is responsible for Evolution. And the Bible is fallible. The story of Adam and Eve in the Garden does not follow original test. The Bible also says that it is OK to sell your daughters into slavery (Leviticus I think). Several of the original writings (Books) of the Bible are not included in today's versions, I emphasize versions plural, because they are in conflict with Christian teachings. Some of the Bible's text is from times before Jesus. Most of it was written decades after Jesus died. The victor writes history, not the loser. Pagan (Pagan simply means Not Christian) writings from the times before Jesus contain most of the miracles purported to Jesus. Until about 1903 you could still walk on the same water Jesus walked on. It was possible due to the stromatolites growing in the water. Humans were destroying the stromatolites so the practice was halted. Yet with all that I am still a Christian. And I do believe in Evolution.

To be honest, i dont really care what the pope says, he's just a man and he can be wrong. I'll stick to looking to Jesus for guidance! Incidentally Jesus believed that events such as the Great Flood happened literally : Matthew 24:37-39 "As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away"
God bless

I've read the Pope's address to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences in the original French (as a Canadian who went to school in French, I've got a good grasp on it.)
When he called evolution "plus qu'une theorie", it is technically true that one of two possible literal translations might be "more than one theory," but the other meaning is the far more likely - "more than a theory."
Someone trying to say "more than one theory" would have said "plus qu'une seul theorie", because if they didn't include "seul", they would know people would interpret it the other way.
So make no mistake - whether you agree with JPII or not, he gave the theory of evolution a resounding endorsement. There can be no mistaking what he said.

He doesn't embrace it. He said it's not against the Biblical teachings which means it's a possibility.
I find it hilarious that people believe that the Bible is infallible but the Pope isn't. Even if the Bible is infallible the translations aren't.

It's intellectual suicide to return to the middle ages.
Add more latin to masses, to clear things up...not!
God is not [the author] of confusion, but of "peace".
Christ is our "peace" who hath abolished the law.
Biblical evolution:
babe-->child-->man-->perfect man-->God isn't a man
-babes can't discern law is both good + evil ends evil
(evil "concupiscence" seems to be rampant in RCC)
-perhaps the pope is in the baby-lon phase of growth
-btw, isn't the baby-lon phase twice fallen x 2: Is...Rev!
-"Christ: is the end of the law", is notably twice risen x2;
for in John 8:3-11, twice risen clears room of accusers,
after twice stooping to write law law to the groundead.
The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

since this question is for me I would be glad to answer.
I trust not in the arm of flesh but in the word of God.
Amen.
P.S. That should be the motto of all Christians sadly enough.
Oh well.
Thanks for making a question all for me.
