Then how comes they didn't attack each other for food / territory? And there're plenty of natural rivals in the animal kingdom.

Richard D, since when did I say that? An wild animal can't change it's instinct, dogs and cats raised by people normally don't attack them.

If you are serious about your question then check out John Woodmorappe’s book Noah’s Ark: a Feasibility Study. In it he discusses the questions:
How many types of animals did Noah need to take?
Was the ark large enough to hold all the required animals?

This article by Jonathan Sarfati at http://www.answersingenesis.org/creation/v19/i2/animals.asp discusses the subject and concludes that the Bible can be trusted on testable matters like Noah’s Ark.

Things to consider are that the Bible doesn't say to take two of every animal, but instead to take two of every "sort" or "kind" or animal (actually seven of the clean animals, of which there were very few). Thus, a dog, wolfe, coyote, jackal, etc. could be represented by only two animals. Also, it doesn't say to take adults so newborn animals could have been onboard and taken up less space, required less food, produced less waste and by growing up together could have been less aggressive.

The ark had the volume of 522 railroad stock cars each capable of holding 240 sheep so it could have held over 125,000 sheep-size animals. Woodmorappe totals about 8000 genera, including extinct genera, thus about 16,000 individual animals had to be aboard. Even doubled, this still leaves a lot of room for food and such.

Is this proof-positive? No, there's little chance that everyone will agree and be satisified, but it could be considered to be "reasonable", which is all that is necessary in a civil court of law.

Should this be the basis for one's belief in Jesus as God in human form that through faith in Him humans can spend eternity in God's presence? No, it's just a story of God's involvement in the human existence and not a doctrinal command.

I'm an atheist who doesn't believe in childish incredible impossible myths by if it was me I woulda collected eggs and or real young'uns.

My main question to this mythic impossibility is after Noah and his kids got hold of specimens (which is a story in itself) how did the kangaroos, wombats, Tassie Devils and Platypuses get to Oz?
And what about the Penguins and Polar Bears.
Did he drop them off on the way back to Mt Sinai.?

Because the animals knew they were being saved! Your view of animals exclusively as fighting machines and eating machines is pretty limited. In Katrina, rescuers saved starving dogs and cats. Did some freak out and attack their rescuers?. Of course! But most cooperated.

I think that God gave the animals peace so that they would not attack each other or Noah's family.

And, the ark was built to massive porportions, the exact which are given in Genesis 6:15-16 "15And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits. 16A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it. "

Maybe they had room for food on the boat? Just a thought. If I was going to build and ark I would make sure there was food on it if I was going to be on it.

this is a very good point.i think the real story is that a wolf escaped and started eating the other animals.the scraps you were given were not good enough to sustain your appetite.so Noah is to blame.

Pray about it and maybe God will reveal it to you. Oh wait, that's right, you don't have any interest in being a Christian.

There are no stupid questions...

Just stupid people.

Amazing that God could raise a person from the dead but he can't keep the lion from eating the lamb.
