Please tell me why you left?

Then please tell me what religion you are now if any, and why you believe that religion is "the truth"?

Thank you.

I left after experiencing the utter hypocrisy first hand. I was on the building committee in my state and I had to deal with numerous congregations and elders. if the 'normal' brethren only knew what the hell goes on in the background and under the radar that cult would crumble to almost rubble. I was a ministerial servant also in charge of the accounts for my congregation and you would be VERY surprised as to where some of that money was filtered to. In the end I got fed up with the whole two faced leadership. Now that I look back i can actually see that it genuinely was a cult in every sense of the word. I lost my family, my friends and over 20 years of my life to that cult, and I can tell you,it is a steep price to pay but is worth it. I am happier now than I ever have been. I am now an atheist after attempting to join other religions. It is all one in the same. I am not a sheeple, and I do not let anyone else rule my life anymore.

I am not a JW but did start a Bible Study with this lovely couple. Very nice and polite, very generous. They showed me their library at the Hall and if my daughter and I want to have any of the books, it's free. How nice can you get? I know other religion's that sell you whatever they have. I walked in the Kingdom Hall and everyone was happy. Smiling and talking to one another. No one was whispering in another's ear (like in gossip) and the one's that noticed me came up and introduced themselves and was very pleasant. The Hall looked spotless! The counter's were so clean and shiny, nothing out of place. Everything so well organized. First impression's are the best. I was very observant of everything because of what I have experienced here and what some people said, I found to be *untrue*. When I told my teacher about Y/A R&S, I was advised not to participate because of the negativity other's will give, and the couple said I will be persecuted badly if I participate. Of course I did not listen to and so did what I did here and now I know the truth stands on what they told me. See they are not liars and they look out for a person's best interest. I am not a JW and never had been one but I was associated with the Catholic Church before. So there is no reason for me to lie because I have nothing to gain from people. What I gain and will have in the future comes from the love of Jehovah God and His faithful followerer's. That's all.
I of a growing faith to be strengthened by true knowledge.

Hey Pedi C, what is Non-denominational? Is it where all differ religion's including atheist all get together to "share and tell"? I know what is a non-joinder but need help on your new religion. I guess other's would call me a non-joinder because I didn't join any religion yet.
Another thing, don't call me a JW convert. I say what I am, when I am. You got that? When my goal is reached, it's my right to say what faith I am, NOT YOURS. Don't invade my personal space.

I like that Simone!!

I am non denominational Christian.

The WatchTower Bible and Tract Society teaches many errors.

Many of the exJWs I have gotten to know have stated something like this (many variations): Satan comes as an angel of light. And the ORGANIZATION has new and more light all the time (relatively). The congregations and assemblies are quite nice and loving. The ideal put forward and offered as paradise is so very tempting. These are beautiful and full of light.

These are false nonetheless. The WTB&TS offers paradise on one hand or the second death on the other. This is a very black and white “do" and "believe" as we, the WTB&TS, say or you lose everything.

WatchTower Bible and Tract Society espouses false doctrine. These need to be taken point by point to be seen and compared.

2 Peter 2:1 (KJV)

But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

Jesus “bought” us with his very blood.

JWs are known to discourage participation in any forum that place ideas contrary to what the WTB&TS states because you are not yet indoctrinated in full and can learn and see the false teachings.
Nice people and nice place of meeting does not make a group people Christians.

Mommyof1, I can unequivocally tell you that what pestie and Achtung have said are blatant falsehoods.

I live a very moral life and did not leave in order to commit fornication, nor am I a drug abuser, nor am I immoral nor do I see JW doctrine as the truth I secretly want to return to (dog returning to its vomit ring a bell?) These false accusers need to get a grip on themselves and stop lying.

I left because I could not reconcile that a loving God would be responsible for the destruction of my unbelieving father at Armageddon. My father is a good, gentle man, and he's much nicer and more loving than the elders of my congregation were. I also wanted an education and wanted time to enjoy my life, the life God gave me and intended me to enjoy, without the slavery to man made rules of The Organization. Those rules and requirements of work for salvation are not bible based and I wanted no more of it.

I am non denominational Christian. I believe the Bible is the Truth.

God bless you, Shellback.

I am mortified by some of the answers given by what appears to be senior JW members, so much so I want to respond. I am sorry that this does not answer your question but I must say something. I think everyone who reads this page or thread, needs to look at the way the JW's have responded to this question and have commented about ex-witnesses. If you do not find their answers and unsubstantiated slander directed at those who were either molested or torn from their families truly disturbing, than your are blind and a lost sole. In my humble opinion, how is that mean spirited behavior serving the Lord? No wonder ex-JWs are so angry. shellback

I have known more than one ex JW.

Many do not ever join a church denomination of any kind because they see through certain doctrines that are taught in them.

All you need to know about the Jehovah's Witnesses is that they say "Jesus had his return to power" aka his second coming in the year 1914.

My wife was a witness and God used me to pull her out of the cult.

You are right in what you did and said in your answer. Can I get you to at least read Ps. 14:1. I'm not here to pull you into an organization but I do want you to be caution as a self proclaimed atheist. Below is the Gospel message and its for everyone!

And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment. Heb. 9:27

We are judged by the Ten Commandments.

Ever told a lie?
Ever hated anyone? See 1 John 3:15
Ever lusted after someone? See. Matt. 5:27-28
Ever blasphemed?

For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. James 2:10

Lawbreakers go to hell.

But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” Rev. 21:8

This is clear and humbling. However God made a way so we wouldn't have to go to hell. Jesus (God in flesh) came to earth, lived a sinless life, and was crucified on our behalf. He rose three days later defeating death and in turn giving us an escape route from hell. But Jesus did command us to repent. That means to turn from sin to God. The perfect example of repentance is found in Psalm 51.

“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” Mark 1:15

I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Luke 13:3

Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3

You see when you repent God gives you a new heart and new desires and they are desires to serve Him. As a result you are biblically born again! That my friend is good news!

I want to see you saved! Jesus does to! Please feel free to email me or unsilenced lamb, pedi c, or simon61161. I know you have been hurt and lost a good part of your life and the life of your family while being a witness.

Jesus does reconctrution work! He reconstructed my wife, unsilenced lamb, pedi c, and simon61161. Don't die without the Savior! Just some brotherly love man!

I could stand the hypocrisy any more. For people talking so much about love the amount of nastiness and cruelty expressed to each other right after the congregation was over it was simply unbearable. And the feeling of been suffocated by rules that had nothing to do with God’s worship… just to display to the rest of the world the “politically correct” outlook…
Now I’m free from all religious bondages and finally discovered that the truth is everywhere to be found once you know how (not where) to look for it. No need for external assistance or religious guidance…
Within the silence of our hearts there an unmistakable order that leads us exactly where we ought to be. All we have to do is listen to it…
