I don't really know, but the only thing I do know is that stripes to help. However, that crazy answer at the couple of drops of lemon drops or the strawberries, that dude is trippin. That acid on your teeth will eat away at your enamel and damage your teeth. That's a crazy answer. Consult a dentist. Whatever tooth paste you use, make sure it's ada approved, your mouthwash should be too. Also, sometimes tarter build up along your gum line and under your gum line will hurt the whiteness of your teeth, if you get this cleaned by a dentist, it could improve the whiteness of your teeth. Stripes don't hurt your teeth either, I asked the dentist. They said it helps for many people!

First of all, not everyone has pearly white teeth. The best thing is brushing at least 2 times a day. I like the battery tooth brush by Crest, Colgate is good too. Use a tooth paste that helps whiten the teeth. And, have your teeth cleaned by a dentist every 6 to 8 months. And, don't for get to floss. A great smile comes from with-in, not from pearly white teeth.

As a dental assistant, I would reccommend using Arm & Hammer Peroxi-Care Toothpaste. It's not very flashy, but it is one of the best as far as the ADA, ADAA are concerned. Also, brush along the gumline; most strains start at the gumline and "migrate". Next, avoid dark liquids (sodas, coffee, colored mouth rinses). Chew on sugar-free gum (Exxtra is great). Try rinsing your mouth with a little diluted Hydrogen Perioxide (it's the main ingredient in all the expensive, dentist-only whitening systems). Swish it around in your mouth and then hold it for about 4 minutes. You won't need more than a teaspoon because it will foam like crazy! Don't rinse and go to bed. Repeat every three days or so. Also, use flouride. Flouride hardens tooth enamel, which will make it less porous and less likely to stain.

If the concern is extrinsic stains from coffee, tea, tobacco, etc the stains can be REDUCED with thorough brushing. A more abrasive toothpaste would be effective. These often contain sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). I do NOT recommend using abrasive toothpaste on a regular basis. Brushing only. Do NOT try to remove stains with sharp instruments.

Natural teeth are rarely white. White teeth are often the result of bleaching or a cosmetic alteration like crowns and veneers. Enamel is generally a thick translucent protective layer. It protects the underlying dentin which is yellow. Natural healthy teeth have a characteristic color caused by the yellow dentin shining through the enamel. The only way to brighten or "whiten" the dentin is by use of a bleaching gel. The molecules in the gel actually diffuse through the tooth and bleach the structure from the deepest layers out to the enamel.

Do NOT brush and brush and brush attempting to remove stains or yellow color. Excessive brushing will wear away enamel over time causing the yellow dentin to shine through more vividly, that is, teeth will become LESS White.

You are inquiring about a process which significantly alters the appearance and chemical/physical structure of a living organism. Natural products are thought to be biocompatible and non reactive. I doubt a natural product could produce such a change in a structure of the human body. If it did I would question its safety.

Great Question! The dental industry has done a poor job of educating the public about bleaching/whitening? Unfortunately we have done a hell of a job marketing it!

Crest White Strips are a good way to whiten the teeth; be sure to follow the directions exactly though otherwise the results may not be enjoyable. There really isn't a natural way to whiten them, but you can do things to prevent the dull, yellowing color from appearing.

To prevent teeth from needing whitening treatments, drink beverages through a straw so that the fluids don't touch your teeth to stain them. Coffee beverages should be avoided as much as possible, but if this isn't an option, be sure to brush your teeth afterward.

Eat and drink foods high in calcium, like cheese, yogurt and milk. This while help your teeth retain the nice, white color and build up a strong structure to prevent cavities, too.

And as always, avoid smoking, drugs and alcohol. The drugs and smoking take away the calcium from your body, leaving less for your teeth. The alcohol wears away the outer protecting coat from your teeth, helping them to look dinghy and yellow.

Good luck!

I have used & swear by Crest Strips. I've used them off & on when I need it & my teeth are as white as anyone can get them. I've not tried anything else, because these work soo well. I have always gotten compliments on my so white teeth. (I do smile a lot!) It's well worth it to KNOW it's going to work & not have to guess or wonder. I've also used the store brand whiteners which also work as well. I shouldn't say it, but I do leave them on longer than the recommended time. Another thing, I drink EVERYTHING, even coffee using a straw! It honestly DOES help keep stains off your teeth. Who cares what I do at home! I always use Ultrabrite toothpaste. It has baking soda in it & I like it 'cause it doesn't all foam up into "suds". It does help keep my teeth white also. But, I honestly have gotten more compliments on my white smile, but no one knows why but me..well, now you know:)

Back in my day some 40 years ago Baking Soda was the best thing to really whiten teeth. It taste a little nasty, but if you rinse your mouth good after brushing it will help get that nasty taste out of your mouth. And your teeth will be as white as snow, and your smile will be beautiful. I did this three time a week. Just put a little baking soda on a paper towel or a saucer, wet tooth brush dab bristle in soda then brush, rinse and your good to go. Good Luck and happy smiling.

You can get a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide for about a dollar from any store with a pharmacy (or probably even the Dollar Store). Once a week, use it as a mouthwash after you brush your teeth. Just swish it for a minute- It becomes kind of foamy in contact with germs, so rinse with water afterwards. This will gradually whiten very well and also kill germs of the mouth. This is the same stuff that you can pour on a cut to kill the germs.

Hmmm. . . Well a while back a friend suggested I'd rub my teeth with strawberries, and I swear it really did work. All I did was get a strawberry and scrubbed it on my teeth then rinsed and my teeth were ALOT whiter. Sounds crazy, but it really did work. But if you don't have strawberries then rinse your mouth with Hydrogen Peroxide 2 times a day for about a minute. If you don't have Peroxide, then you could make a toothpaste yourself by getting a cup and putting baking soda and a bit of water in it, then just put some on your toothbrush and brush. I guarantee these will work, or at least they really did for me. I recommend you try them. Goodluck! =]

I must warn you though that Peroxide does damage your enamel (My bad if I spelled that wrong) so you might want to stick to using it once a day or once every other day. Again goodluck! =]
