True.We have to live this life as God would like us to.But we also have to be alert and stay awake and lock our doors because we never know what time the master of the house comes knocking for us.

There are days when I feel so discouraged that I wished Jesus would come right then and there. Yes, I too look forward to heaven, but I enjoy my life as well and I'm grateful to have my children and husband. As long as I am here, I want to live my life according to God's will. Is that always easy? No, certainly not.
So while we are allowed to be here, we should be shining lights, the salt and love others with God's love.

i think people assume that because, of a couple of reasons...
one, if you are able to have two lives why would you care about this one? especially when the next is supposed to be much better...
two, they must not think christans are doing enough in this life (by this i mean, helping out society, caring for one another, expanding your mind, etc.)
and three, in order to get into the next life (a good one) you need to follow a certain set of rules, some of which, to the masses would seem absurd.... making this life just servitude and limited, and how can you live life to the fullest as a servant and with limitations?

It's the focus that a lot of the evangelical churches have on the last days and death. When Christians of this persuasion tell us that it doesn't matter what happens to this world as it'll be made new when the end of the world arrives. This is a very dangerous outlook, and the end of the world could end up being a self-fulfilling prophecy if the outlook is not changed.
Christians are meant to be stewards and guardians of the world and its creatures. It seems to me that they are being very poor stewards.

I think that it is a large part of your religion, to serve your God in this life into the next. The focus of Christianity by a lot of Christians is to please God so they can get to Heaven. I do not believe Christians only think about the next life. I have known so many crack head, pot smoking, drunkard Christians to know better. Likewise, I know of so many wealthy Christians focused on making life harder for the poor so they can attain some sort of status symbol in this life it makes me sick.
The main concern I have with their belief in the afterlife is that it sometimes overrides things that need to be done now, things which will affect our children in the future.

I don't really know, if you so want to get there, that's not fair, one should be spreading their faith while they are on the earth, then enjoy heaven once one dies.
