Yes he DID and heres the History--Petty had a conflict with The Chrysler Corporation over parts and engine blocks so he switched to A 1969 Ford Torino Talladega and had East Tennesee Motors and 7-Up as his Sponsor. No STP on this car either ashe was in a dispute with Andy Granitelli over that sponsorship deal. He won his 100th Race in this car. 1970 he was back with Chysler in his Winged Plymouth Superbird and STP

I have a Richard Petty Enterprises crew shirt that was my husbands. Before he died he asked me to sell it but to be sure I received a decent amount for it, since he had not seen one since the Petty team raced Ford's. I really didn't think he was telling me the truth------but the shirt has a big Ford logo on the back!

I believe he drove a Ford into the wall with his Dodge if that counts.
