If your brother stops playing around 9:30 and you go to bed then, 4 or 5 hours would be 1:30 to 2:30 a.m.. Do you go to bed at 9:30? Your question is a little confusing. Sleep requirements vary between individuals. I never got 9-1/2 hours sleep a night when I was a teenager. It sounds like you are trying to hush your house so you can sleep, but you don't mention noise after 9:30 p.m.. All in all, that sounds normal to me. Even noise ordinances usually don't go into effect until 9 or 10 at night, at the earliest. Earplugs are the way to go if you're sensitive and out of sync with the rest of the family, but realize they have lives too and they can't tiptoe through them all the time.

Try putting in soft earplugs, to eliminate the sound.
