They claim to be Christians. Many "Christians" today are on very dangerous ground, not having followed the pattern established in scripture.
Back up one verse: Mt 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven. Only those who DO WHAT MY FATHER IN HEAVEN WANTS will enter.
1Pe 4:17 It is time for people to be judged. It will BEGIN WITH THE FAMILY OF GOD. And since it begins with us, what will happen to people who don’t obey God’s good news?
18 Scripture says,
“Suppose it is HARD FOR GODLY PEOPLE TO BE SAVED.
Then what will happen to ungodly people and sinners?”
==============================================
Calvin's "perseverance of the saints," sometimes called "once saved, always saved" clearly contradicts the teaching of these passages. It simply is NOT TRUE.
~sadame~ There were NO CHRISTIANS during Jesus' lifetime! The people alive then were under the LAW. Jesus' DEATH changed that.
Hebrews 9:15 That’s why Christ is the go-between of a new covenant. Now those God calls to himself will receive the eternal gift he promised. They will receive it now that Christ has died to save them. He died to set them free from the sins they committed under the first covenant. 16 What happens in the case of a will? It is necessary to prove that the person who made the will has died. 17 A will is in effect only when somebody has died. It never takes effect while the one who made it is still living. 18 That’s why even the first covenant was not put into effect without the spilling of blood.

It is those who claim to be saved but never was. Notice what it says I NEVER knew you, Depart from me. Jesus knows his sheep and his sheep knows him. The good works was done in the name of Jesus. Even a lost person can lead someone to the Lord, by using the word of God. Notice all they said to Jesus in that day pretained to works, not being saved by Jesus. To be saved one does not have to work for it. Its a free gift.

The ones that didn't go about and teach the Gospel which is found in Acts 2:38. This is our Great Comission. This is how we add to His Church. This is the message that will free us from the bondage of sin. This is our Salvation. Sin is not allowed into Heaven. Those with sin will not enter.

Christians were not! those that believed in him were not!NOW! Got a PESTITTA TRANS? Since I don't speaketh the 1510 toungue thou mightest givest to me another book Why don't you put ALL the references to the 2nd coming of Yeshua together? then it can be discussed correctly? You see, using isolated verses lacking the whole text, or lifting a versd out of context leads to ERROR! See yeshua spoke of hipocrites, liars, sinners, unbelievers, etc. yes they will be there in the judgement. When he said he meant it. It is written, it well come to pass. Hey! what happened to PBUH?

Jesus said that not everyone who uses the title of "Lord" when referring to Him was going to enter the Kingdom of Heaven but the people who showed that they really meant that He was their Lord because they did the will of his Father who was in Heaven.
There are no commands to cast out devils, or speak prophetically or to do wonderful works. Those all may be good things that give the outward appearance of someone who is a true Christian but Jesus said that true Christians don't just make a show of it by doing public works, they prove it by obeying God's commands.
Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
22 On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' 23 And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.'
24 "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.
26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it."

There are many people who claim to be religious and do good works, but many do not fully understand the teachings of God. They claim to know him, but they really are just going through the motions without thought for the true meaning and without true spiritual growth.

Jesus is talking about the false prophets that say that they are good but are really evil. They will claim to know Christ and to do wondrous things in His name but they do these things only for themselves.
Matthew 7:19Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

It's a mistranslation the original Greek says lawlessness and most Christians think they are covered fully by grace so they think they can disobey gods law.

They are those who try to gain access to Heaven by their works, even though they used the name of Jesus. He never knew them. Jesus knows His sheep, and they know Him. Those who are not of His flock will try to gain access to Heaven through works, empty religious rituals and man made laws. All whom the Father has called will come to Him, and will be saved, and salvation comes through the death and resurrection of Christ only.
