Our foremost duty is to take care of our body, keep it healthy both physically and spiritually because human body is very precious and we have been endowed with the human form only due to our good deeds. Second duty is to realize that this world is an exile, and we have to abandon it as fast as possible because all the physical concepts are ever changing and the divine magic that God has created is only to test man how well he conducts himself in this world. Attachment to the earthly pleasures will only lead to misery, only detachment and realization of you true purpose shall rid you of this eternal cycle of birth-life-death-rebirth.

Duty means performing the assigned tasks without getting attached.
So our duty is not to get attached to the world.

To be happy. Just think what the world would be like if everyone made it their mission and duty to be happy. And for those of you who think that being happy requires ignoring the needs of others, that is not true happiness.
Happiness to some seems like an indulgence, but it is exactly the opposite. Happy people vibrate lots of positive energy that is spread all around them. They leave a wake of good feelings.
Happiness is derived from giving, sharing, and helping. We get lots of happiness from helping others. The opposite of happiness is a mindless self-indulgence (hey, my son listens to them :) )
So the short answer to your questions is:
Our duty in this world is to be happy. :)

Duty to this world: To protect it and to live within its means. After all, we rely on the world for our very lives.
Duty in this world: To live the best life we can

Our duty is to develope our soul further, to learn in all our different lives as much as possible. Once we got through this school on earth, our soul can be reborn in another dimension to learn further. The learning and developement process will be finished when we are one with the universe.

The heart of every religion pretty much say the same thing - Love, Compassion, and Helping Others.
If everyone just tried their darndest to cultivate those three attributes within themselves, outside of any particular doctrine, the world would be a MUCH better place.

I believe the world is a huge school where we learn much faster than if we were to still be in spirit. My job here is to learn the lessons I came here to learn, live my love for God, and aid others in the best way I can. I need to love the Lord my God with all my heart, all my soul, and all my might, and love others as I love myself. This tells me I also have to love me. This seems to be the hardest part of all.
Blessed Be

To obey the great command and to carry out the great commission.
Mark 12:29 Jesus answered, "The most important is, 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' 31 The second is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."
Romans 13:9 The commandments, "You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet," and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." 10 Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

He is looking after.
Nothing is there like `duty` really.
Sometimes, this `duty oriented life` may create egomaniac nature.

Listen to inner voice and move on. And work in conformity with ur inbuilt nature. It differs in everyone. If its difficult be loving and compassionate towards everyone and then do whatever u like.
This world is a play of God within God.
