What really bugs me is people who claim that they are intelligent. Most that do, usually aren't.

Do you have a mind that is open to learning truth? Are you willing to examine the evidence and modify your current beliefs based upon new information? Perhaps you already know that in the Bible it says that the Scriptures are "God breathed" and that men who were moved by the Spirit of God wrote what God intended for them to convey to other people (2 Tim 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21).
Maybe that's not sufficient for you because the claims for the whole Bible are contained in the Bible itself and you consider that to be a form of circular reasoning or something like that. If that's the case then I would invite you to take about 20 minutes to read what's on the following link, the outline of which I will also provide. Then you will at least have some idea of how someone with an intellectual mind can have an honest disagreement with you regarding the "truth" about the Bible.

In 100 or 200 hundred years from now...think of all the great men in the world, all the scholars, scientist, and world leaders who have made huge contributions and how upon their contributions others will build even better ways. They will too be called primitive in a few hundred years, but in our time they are great men.
Not knowing how old you are I can only ask this anyway,
Think of how many times you have heard or maybe said that "back in my day" things were better. The more "enlightened" people seem to get the more they lose their spirituality, morality, charity toward others and compassion for the meek and down trodden. That of course was a huge message over and over in the bible, so you really think they were delusional and were only seeking power when they were doing what they were doing under the threat of death? Go back and reread your history and you may see something all together different that what you assumed.

That would be "sought power", but hey, it's just proper grammar. You are in no position to pass judgment on the Scriptures, as to their veracity nor the motives of the writers. The idea that the writers of Scripture did so to in order to obtain some sort of power is utterly ludicrous. Your reveal you vapidity by making these unfounded and unsubstantiated claims. When you can write poetry as beautiful as the Psalms, or spout wisdom to rival Proverbs, or lay out deep theology as Paul and Peter did, then maybe you will have some morsel of credibility in critiquing the Scriptures.

Isn't it rather arrogant to label the authors and their motives from times past and call them primitive? Would it be rather delusional to claim this kind of insight?

what is an intellectual mind but the ability to discern fact from fiction... to rise above the limitations of what we were taught, exposed to... intelligence comes from knowing what you think as opposed to what we are told to think... christians live only by what they have been told to think, because even their bible calls them deceived and even when they read it they can't see it... the bible calls them hypocrites but they say not I not I,,, I am a real christian but that's what it is... a real christian.... I have come to the conclusion that there are only two types of christians... the wolves in sheep's clothing and the sheep being led to the slaughter... Considering with what arrogance they allow themselves to be led to that slaughter I hardly have room for sympathy....

Religion is the opiate of the masses. Karl Marx. I disagree with a lot of things he had to say, but not in this particular instance.

They are clinging to the idea that they can do wrong things and have someone else pay the price.
But we know the Original Kingdom Gospel... "God will treat you as you treat others." AND "I will have mercy, not sacrifice." from Matthew 9:13
This on line resource goes into the details of the Original Gospel.
