You can call USCIS for a list of free attorneys in your area. 1-800-375-5283. Do it today. There are several possibilities but his chances decrease as time passes.
They may suggest that he leave and re-enter. Since he is just 18, he has not accumulated one year of "illegal presence" and so is not barred from re-entry. More likely, they will recommend he waits until he has been here 10 years and then apply for cancellation of removal. There is also the possibility of applying for asylum (at least as a bridge to the 10 year mark) since the situation in Chile at the time he was brought here was not as good and I'm sure he fears being sent there.
Consulting with an attorney can't hurt his parents. I don't think that anything he applies for will hurt (or help) them, but that is a question for his attorney. Organizations such as Catholic Charities or the bar association can provide lawyers too.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. Unfortunately he needs a sponsor. Him being here illegally and being "good" is not a qualifying reason that he should get a green card or work permit. His country is not on the list for TPS(Temporary Protected Status) and that poses a problem too. A qualifying relative, Mother or father or US sibling over 21 may file for him. Again, they too are here illegally? He's basically out of luck except for employment petition. The problems he will encounter - even with an employment petition is that, because he's been here illegally, he will not be able to Adjust Status in the country, he will have to go back, the rule is if he goes back, the bar will kick in. In his case, the 10yr bar will apply. But! There is a bright side - if he gets married to a United States Citizen ( For love, not because he wants a green card ) His presence will be forgiven. Remember, Lying to immigration and committing fraud is a serious, serious, erious offense. Becareful - legal avenues is always the best. How did he get here? On a visa? What kind? And I assume that he overstayed. You need to state this in your question. There are certain things that can be done to help him but you have to be specific.
Always consult with an immigration attorney if you are not sure about how to proceed.

In u.s., regulations won't be in a position to be made to discriminate in step with race, so any regulation that allowed 'staggering' illegals from besides the fact that us of a you think of in no way produces terrorists could additionally enable could-be terrorists to get liscences, too. this is real that maximum folk are not violent criminals - even maximum people who injury the regulation on a daily basis are not /violent/ approximately it. that does no longer advise that thier non-violent crimes could desire to be condoned. the priority with granting illegals liscences - or something - is that this is de-facto Amnesty. in the previous you ponder whether illegals are or are not a threat or do or do no longer deserve this or that service or privillega - first ask your self "could desire to they be right here?" the respond is often, "no, they are right here illegally." it is so a techniques because it desires to flow.

When people come here illegally and bring their children. they should think of the consequences. It is unfortunate but the fault is with his parents not our laws.
Laws have to be enforce or they are meaningless.
We can't just pick and choice who has to abide by a law and who doesn't.
You didn't say what the status of his parents was and how they have been supporting themselves if illegal for the last 7 yrs.

Call an immigration attorney asap. Since he is just 18, he really couldn't do anything about it before this point, but to wait just shows that he doesn't care. Best of luck.

Well it would of helped if his parents had fixed their situation years ago. Then they would be able to sponsor him and fix his papers. To those people who are mad about this situation, get over it!!!! Don't forget this land belongs to the NATIVE AMERICANS!!! Try getting a lawyer or even the catholic churches have these programs.

none other than leave the country and start over the proper way. It really doesnt matter that he was "Dragged" here by his parents. He was here illegally, and must leave in order to do it right.
