You need to re-tune the DVD player onto a better channel on the t.v. At the moment it's tuned to a channel that does work but it too close to the other channels - There will be abother channel that you can tune it into.

If you are connecting via scart, then your dvd player will be viewed on an avr setting, not through a tuned station.
But your question mentions dvd/vcr.
So your vcr would have the antenna input, then output to tv.
At the back of your vcr, where the antenna in/out is, you will see a small hole with a tiny screw. On the casing around it there will be a + and - sign. Adjust this slightly to set your vcr to a different chanel, then retune you tv. On most modern vcr's, the channel adjustment can be made from the vcr set up menu. Their is a conflict between signals from your vcr and your freeview.
As an afterthought (i'm a bit slow today) your tv will probably allow you to adjust the freeview channel! check your manual.

Also woth making sure that the scart lead is connected 100%. The quality of lead affects the picture as well. But generally the answer about re-tuning sounds pretty accurate

IF you are using the DVD via a SCART connector, tuning can have nothing to do with this, as SCART connectors are directly plugged into the TV.
Could it be that when you select DVD, your TV isolates itself from the aerial input, in order to prevent any chance of interference, or are you playing your DVD in through the aerial socket?

Unless you are also connecting the aerial through the DVD player, it shouldn't really affect it.

Freeview needs to have a really good connection between the aerial and the set. You may have inadvertantly nudged the UHF cable. Also, you may want to consider an signal booster for your aerial.

Both of my kids have freeview. One is connected to the main house aerial through a booster, and the other one has a simple piece of aerial cable - ie, one end into the freeview box and the other end hanging.

If you have not had free view before you may need a new Ariel or if you have got a new Ariel then check that you have scart leads in the correct scart holes if you have 2 or more scart holes. My guess is that you need a new Ariel you may need to contact a local company but please ensure you do not get ripped off only use a reputable company.

Go into the setup menu for the dvd/vcr & change the existing channel number to another one at least 2 or 3 numbers higher, that should sort it!
