John B has no clue. The E model is a single seat, however the F model is a two seat version. I could tell you way more, but let's face it, unless you work for the F/A-18 Program Office in NAVAIR or are assigned to an F/A-18 unit in the Navy, all the good stuff is classified and you don't have a need to know. You can get the unclassified descriptions off of numerous sites on the net. Or perhaps even from Jane's Defense publications.

Well, for one, it can do a "Pirouette" manuever. Thats an F/A-18E/F version of the "Hammer head turn" that some other combat jets can perform. Other than that, I know it's landing "flare" angle is reduced thus giving pilot a better view of the carrier deck and that its larger wing area means it also has a lowered "Vmin" or stall speed = it can fly at a lower speed than its earlier model.
These are just a few of the special things about it.

On the takeoff roll the pilot puts his hand on a handle in clear view of everyone on the deck. The computer does the actual launching.
