I was against the Chase until it actually happened. I have to admit that 2004 was more exciting than Kenseth's running away with it in 2003. I prefer excitement over justice even though I did not think I would. Stewart in 2005 and Johnson in 2006 would have been champions under both systems. Kurt Busch won in 2004, but Jeff Gordon would have won under the old system. If Jeff doesn't win it this year it would be the 2nd time he would deserve, yet not get the championship. There are some hotter drivers than Jeff now especially Stewart, Edwards, and Kurt Busch. To me, that is exciting.

If the responders of this question dislike what Nascar has done to their racing and rules, why watch it?
If you hate the Chase, go watch the Busch Series. Has that been an exciting finish to their season the last two years? Edwards only leads with 690 points. Jeff Gordon Currently leads with 349 points, which might have been higher.
Under the old system, who cares about the championship about now? Jr fans would not be taking about if, instead just another year. Every few years you had two drivers fighting for the championship, but most, the leader was crowned several races before season ended. Sure they had lots of wins, or very consistent. What excuse did people have to watch the last few races if your driver was in the top 5 or so, if the champion was already decided? Now the championship is decided in the last race, and gives the racing more excitement and interest. I prefer to see more excitement, instead of just constant consistency.

I hate the CHASE, I really hate it. It's not a fair way to win the Champ. Nascar really went over board when they came up with this crap. The best driver has a one in 12 chance of being champ. If not for this crap, J Gordon would be wining his 6th right now. As it is, it's anyone horse to cross the finish line and the best driver will be lucky to win the cup. YES, I hate the chase and it's no more then a big joke thought up by big jokesters, namely, the jr France family. You can call it sour grapes, but when they went to the chase, they screwed nascar up and likely will screw Gordon out of another Champ. This is no way to run a championship.

The chase is more exciting, but racing is a year long sport
and the championship should be for the year, not just
the last 10 races. Now if they wanted to make the chase
fair, then it would be a race just between the cars in the chase
and the rest of the cars would have to race at a different time,
like that is ever going to happen.

I like the excitement of the chase personally... I think they should rethink how they do it to give the leader going in a greater advantage... I consider myself a pretty big NASCAR fan, but if it wasn't for the chase I doubt I would be into the races much at this point.... Under the old system it pretty much would be over right now.
The chase needs to be redesigned, but the old system wasn't any better...

There needs to be HONESTY and CONSISTENCY in the competition to crown a champion.
None of this so-and-so is not in the top5 so lets play with the rules so so-and-so will be in there to bring in the money.BULL COOKIES.Race to the the championship and not CHASE.
Qualify cars and not give out the free passes, top 35 and provisionals, The fastest 43 race period, but the fans favorite so-and -so did not qualify, sorry come back next week.
Get HONESTY and CONSISTENCY back into racing.

I think the old system was better. Why reward a team that didn't perform all season? Is it fair to the teams that worked hard and did well? NA$CAR died in 1983 . RIP.

The day NASCAR started to get ill was February 18, 2001
The day NASCAR died was the day they started the chase.
No excitement here.
This is one spot that didn't need a playoff no one wanted it they just shoved it into every ones face and told them to shut up your doing it.
Now all the round ball freaks can get the jollies.
