Yep - but without it connected you will only get the basic free channels as they can't update it without a phone line connected.

Provided the previous occupant had a decent dish/LNB that matches. I.e if they had sky and you have sky+ then a quad LNB will be required and another coax cable will need to be run. I wouldn't try it myself for the sake of £50! as to get the best results you need some equipment.

If you want to do it yourself then get a wet towel and place that over the dish/LNB to weaken the signal when you are aligning the system. That way once you get a strongish signal showing on the box it will be better when you remove the towel!

The phone-line connection is only if you are still within the 12months from new subscription.
When I moved they charged me £50 to re-install although that included a more modern dish/LNB.

Also if you are moving to a different post-code area then you need to inform sky as otherwise you'll have the wrong geographic region of BBC/ITV on 101 and 103!

the answer by sal uk is complete bollocks sky can updtae without the phone line. you are only required to have your phone line connected in the first 12 months of your contract or if you wish to use the facilties that the phone line allows to use, which by the way you have to pay for. apart from that there will be nothing to update you are only moving the box and dish from on location to another.
the answer to your quesstion is YES if you are you have someone ho is capable of moving and realigning the dish

Yes you can. Sal*UK I am afraid you are wrong. Not connecting to a phone line doesn't effect anything in terms of channel choice, however without the phone line connected you can't watch movies that you pay for individually etc.

Yes - you can get a wee gadget that tells you where the best signal is - it was only a few quid..but you dont really need it... Don't tell Sky your moving - before you cancel it - phone them up and recommend a Friend at your new address ...get some M&S vouchers or whatever they are offering at the moment..and any deal they are doing on packages. then phone up next day and cancel it at your old address.
