OK I have had both at the same time. The Jack Russell had to be sold because she chewed up all my outdoor furniture and she was just much more suitable for a more energetic family with more time. So pug for me, my pug is the perfect dog, he is quiet and cute and sweet and wouldnt hurt a fly. I love my Popeye!

pugs are much better than jack russells because jack russels are less active than pugs...
pugs are cuter than jack russells and jack russells are known to ba wild..

you asked for "my choice" and since we have an active family with kids I would get a jack russell...to me they are like a big dog in a compact body, intelligent and easily trained. pugs are sweet, but wouldn't last 2 seconds in my house with my kids....maybe that is why I own big dogs....lol

get a pug- spunky little personalities, will cuddle with you when you sit down and are very quick to learn tricks like shaking hands or rolling over....plus they have peripheral vision!

jack russels,as they are easier to maintain,altho very active.both dogs are great,depends on your knowledge and how much time you got etc.iv had both and my JR is far easier..goodluck.
