There are male religious leaders all over the world who use their position of power to commit the most horrendous sexual acts on innocent little boys. They also promote homophobic hatred (as suggested in the bible) and encourage barbaric ideas towards child birth and do everything they can not to give women equal rights. Since these men are parading directly under 'Gods' banner, surely he would intervene, considering he is all knowing and all powerful? Not to do so raises some very awkward and uncomfortable questions for you religious people doesn't it? Perhaps to rid the world of religion would be to free humanity?

hey guys you cant have it both ways! You use your religion like plasticine, you mould it into any shape that fits the question. Either god intervenes or he doesn't, that means he would never answer prayers to save someone etc

Hey pbb1001, I dont support the invsion of Iraq. If memory serves me right George Bush said that 'God' told him to do it?! Why is God intervening again?

I've read enough of the bible to see the hate this so called God encourages. Why would he create something so perfectly balanced and magnificent as the universe and then allow man with 'free will' to destroy most of it in his name? It just doesn't make sense really and you religious people should be ashamed of yourselves.

I agree- but then again, I don't believe in a God.
So, for everyone who says anything about FREEWILL- so if it is true that he gave it to us, why has he supposedly intervened in the past (in the bible). He started the flood, he parted the red sea- if he did it then, why can't he do it now? Because of favouritism? Or because there is no God?
What is the Christian God anyway? All knowing- maybe he doesn't know about the evil. All powerful? maybe he can't stop the evil? All loving? Maybe he just doesn't care. If God was all these three things, then he would intervene. Simple.

Why focus on a central energy/being. God hasn't created the atrocities of the world, Humans do this well by themselves.
We walk this earth plane to learn valuable lessons from all our experiences, everyone involved will learn as well as those who aren't directly involved.
If we were guided completely and never made mistakes, how would any one learn or develop?
We have Free Will and choose to do terrible things in life. As you rightly say it is Man that is parading under Gods banner not God offering direction. Man has a need for power, this power comes from a few individuals creating a need for leadership, usually through hatred and fear.
God is spirit and unconditional love, he cannot guide every individual and stop every nasty event. Our Spirit guides and helpers may offer us guidance if we gave them the time and listened to what they have to say.
I believe that there is a God Force energy, part of this energy resides in us all, we are all responsible for the worlds atrocities. As long as we learn from them then our spirit will grow and develop ready for our next life time.

Don't blame God for the sins of human.
God created a balanced universe to match and maintain different natures; life, wisdom and intellegence etc.
Ignorance is weakness or rather a sin hence we should find the truth first then criticise.
You should not blame God if the Holy scriptures are changed for some small benefits? The contradictions in Bible clearly indicate that, now this is not the word of God!
There are other religions and faiths!
Try to find the truth somewhere else which could answer your thurst.
Islam claims to be universal religion.
Try it and find contradictions??
God has really intervened! Read Quran!

You can't blame God for man's actions. You really think that these guys are God's people? You think that this church that you are talking about is endorsed by God? They don't even esteem the Bible as the end all word of God. They have come up with their own laws, books, and traditions that are contrary to the bible.
As far as God intervening in stuff. Yes He does. Sometimes He swoops in and saves the day and other times He allows bad stuff to happen. In the book of Revelation (2:10), God warns a church of persecution from the Devil. Why didn't the Lord simply rebuke the devil and save the believers in Smyrna from persecution? Because contrary to what many teach today, the Lord does not promise health, wealth, and prosperity. He does not guarantee that Satan will never attack. We do not always know why He allows Satan to test or persecute us, but we can rest in the assurance that "God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose" (Rom. 8:28). You can mark this: Satan and his demons never, never act against God's people without the permission of God. And when God gives them permission, He always uses their work to accomplish some divine purpose.

I too have blamed God for horrendous things.
Now I am not Religious, but Christian. And being a Christian means we are given The Holy Spirit to help us understand these things and the Truth of God.
Please remember the 40 -1 stripes and the horrific death that Jesus took upon Himself so mankind could turn to Him to be set Free.
He yearned for All of us then as He still does now.
Isaiah 59:1
Behold, the LORD'S hand is not so short That it cannot save; Nor is His ear so dull That it cannot hear.
There Will be a day of Judgment and Gods scales are the best!
-"Vengeance is mine", sayeth The Lord.

Did you ever think that maybe He has intervened? After all He sent His son to die for the sins and pains of the world. Christ has given His life so that everyone who has been hurt can be healed.
You are wrong, it doesnt raise awkward questions. Because people who understand the plan of happiness already know the answers.
Did you ever think that maybe the only problem with religion is people dont live it? And that you are encouraging people not to live their faith is making things worse?

Ridding the world of religion would help to end religious wars, but humanity, being what it is, we'd find other reasons to wage war, commit atrocities, and generally hurt each other. The old excuse, "don't blame god, he gave us free will," solves nothing and doesn't make those of us who can't believe in a universal creator feel any better about the validity of religion.

God will judge those who have falsely used his name to commit the millions of sins that have been committed. I hope that he has a special place in hell for them. But to rid the world of religion because of the actions of a few would be a greater crime.
Do you know how many people find peace and comfort knowing that God is there for them? Would you deny the mother of a child dying of cancer, her prayers that her child goes in peace and is free of pain? Would you deny me the only hope of seeing and holding my babies will be in heaven?

God intervenes. Everyday people's lives are saved, sick people healed and catastrophes prevented through his miracles. You must ask for his help too and worship him or else how would he want to intervene.
Its obvious that you haven't heard of God intervening, that's because you don't go to church and ain't a Christian.
