Why is it that women's taste in men change when they get older?

Why is it when women are young, they tend to be attracted to the effeminate "pretty boys" like Zac Effron and Jesse McCartney, but when they get older, their taste changes to older , "more "rugged", less "girly-looking" men like George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Harrison Ford (who is pushing 70). Why this change in taste and what causes it?

It is because when you age, your hormones cause an effect on your brain that makes older looking men more hot to you. It symbolizes virility and wisdom, and these qualities attract the older women, who are not that into the looks but also into the qualities, such as power and wealth. Similarly, rugged looking men seem to have more capabilities in providing for the family, and this attracts women to them.

The onset of menstruation during puberty and the hormones within it dictates the brain to pick a more manly looking type of guy - and this phenomena cannot be explained by scientists.

However, if you'll notice, most of the "pretty boys" themselves grow up and look more masculine.

Yes, Everything changes. As you get older you realize what you want more in a man. I mean the only thing that didn't change for me was how I like tall men. I am friends with some of my exes and I look at them now and I'm like what was I thinking? So for me looks, personality and everything else changed.

Coz when we are young, we are not as wise as when you grow older, when young, we are attracted to beauty more but once we get older we look for more than that, personality wisdome and we find older guys even more sexy, and those actors you mentioned are just images of what we want. I LOVE George Clooney, OMG!

Maturity. I mean, boys like idiotic pop princesses when they're 12 and as they grow they like older women like Angelina Jolie. People get older and realize that there are bigger and better things in the world. :)

I can't speak for all women. But I always look for a guy who matches my intellect, or know more than me.

I never like the "pretty boys" and etc, its the mind that matters the most to me, if you only have looks but no brains, your not worth my time.

i think it's mainly maturity!, when they are younger they want someone cute but as they get older most of them want a mans man (never really understood that phrase, if your a mans man your really manly but it should really mean you act like a gay guy!!) to "protect them" and "hold them" and all that boll*cks!!
