Yes, though the technology is a bit further than what we have now. It's perfectly reasonable to assume that we could make a Superhuman sometime in the future (or even a SuperPlatypus, if we felt like a good laugh), but there are also dangers involved. Evolution is meant to be a slow process, and sudden changes could result in very unexpected consequences.

If creationism is true then the changes that scientists can make to a species will fall within a fairly limited range before the creature ceases to be viable.
But if evolution is true then we should one day see them change a dog into something that is not a dog and is a completely new lifeform that never previously existed.

All religions practice eugenics. They control the breeding of their subjects to produce willing supporters and martyrs. Since only nature can do genetics and evolution, the result of eugenics is devolution, the production of subhumans, which is acceptable to the religious administrations. The apocalyptic section of the bible warns of this, that religion will breed the human race into zombies.

Ever eat cauliflower? Strawberries the size of your fist? Have a dog? Drink cow's milk or eat beef? All thanks to genetic manipulation.

Probably not. It would require a whole GENOME script and even then in theory anything can happen due to outside influences.
