I've read the Qu'ran (Pickthall translation). It's more flowery to read than the Bible, and is open to many interpretations. In order to get a more definitive idea of the text, you'd need to read the Arabic version as the Arabic has nuances that have been translated in the English versions. However, from these the Pickthall or Yusuf Ali versions are generally considered the best. There are many copies on the Internet, for free, as people have transcribed these versions. PDF or eBook reader versions are also available for free. Print copies don't tend to cost too much either.

Don't Muslims know their own Quran? Are they not aware of what numerous verses say or do they just ignore them? Here is a small sample, eg: sura 2:193 Fight the infidels until they accept Islam; sura 2:191 Slay the unbelievers wherever you find them; sura 9:123 Make war on the infidels living in your neighbourhood; sura 9:29 Kill the Jews and the Christians if they do not convert to Islam or refuse to pay Jizya tax; sura 3:85 Any religion other than Islam is not acceptable; sura 9:30 The Jews and the Christians are perverts; fight them; sura 3:28 Muslims must not take the infidels as friends; sura 8:12 Terrorise and behead those who believe in scriptures other than the Qur’an;
sura 8:60 Muslims must muster all weapons to terrorise the infidels

Quran is a book that lays down principles for an organized and peaceful society.
The commandments contained in the Book are a continuation of the previous revelations contained in the earlier holy books including Bible.
It provides guidance to those who have firm faith in its truthfulness and originality.
The only way to get benefit from this Book is to fully trust its contents without any doubt and with zero exceptions.

ok i KNOW u said no muslims but i had to
SORee
i wanted to clear up sum things that book man said
you've read the Quran so i think you would agree
where in the Quran does it portray Jesus as wrong and as a liar???
ok ya so we believe he didnt die on the cross
we believe that God SAVED him and raised him up to the skies
and as for the part that he isnt the son of God
How can God superior to everyone and everything have a son?
AND we dont consider him a lowly prophet
he is one of the 5 greatest prophets in Islam
And as for your question
the Quran does mention a lot of scientific things that where not known in those days.
but i wont get into detail because you wanted a nonmuslim point of view.
:O)

The Quraan is indeed sent from God to the prophet Muhammad.
It contains information which scientists discovered only recent years ago; such as the 12 planets and the separation of sweet and salty water under the sea. Note that the book was arrived thousands of years ago.

Honestly, I have only read excerpts of the Koran.. After reading the entire idiocy called the bible several times, I was forced to conclude that it's hogwash, the behavior of Muslims doesn't differ from Christians (from an historical perspective), so I reject that religion out of hand as well in that any other thing written about god[s] will similarly fail to prove the existence of God[s]

may u seek the source of Light inside u.

I've read about half of it ( I don't mean the first half I mean skipping along). It seems to make as much sence as the bible to the rational mind ( a negative), but it is more internally consistant witch is a big plus.
Unfortunatly like the bible, I didn't have much trust in my translator, but this is a point in islams favor as they urge that the book must be read in its origenal language as opposed to those who think a third gereration translation of KJV is worth even a glance.

I have read Al-Quran. I found it to be quite beautiful but alas as open to many interpretations as the Bible or Talmud. We are fallible beings,we are left to interpret God's word and therein lies the problem.
