I have 1 husband and 4 children. I can remember cooking and eating many of these things for them and with them. We all love dishes with apples, brown sugar and cinnamon. So apple crisp, apple turnover and apple pie have turned up "about a million times" at our house. Poptarts & oatmeal with brown sugar and cinnamon are also favorites. I would say spaghetti, Rice-a-Roni, chocolate chip cookies, sloppy joes, steak and potatoes, and Hoagy/subs would be the other choices from your list. Pizza and fried chicken should also be on that list. Never have eaten seaweed, sushi, pad thai, lichee ice cream or poi.

Subs make me think, "New York makes the best". I am 63 and was an Army Brat born in NY, and my relatives always lived there, so we'd always kind of end up there. I've always rated towns and cities by their subs. To me the only real sub is an old fashioned NY cold cut. In the 70's, after eating many in the Lexington Market in Baltimore, I revised my definition to include the Cheese Steak:-)
Never have cared for the "pop tart". or the Rice-a-roni

Let's see-- oatmeal for a snowy morning in Colorado, and apple crisp around a fire that evening. Spaghetti with chiante and crusty bread at a corner bistro in Naples, and veal Marsala for the first time in foggy Brussels. Steak and potatoes for Dad , always, and chocolate chip cookies are heaven warm from the oven. Coconut cream pie is best at a busy truck stop outside Phoenix , and there's a dive in Brooklyn that has perfect sub sandwiches big enough for two. The idea of sushi scared me until a dashing man showed me how to use chopsticks and I tasted a California roll hot with wasabe one sunny day in Santa Barbara - we got married two weeks later, by a slightly drunken sea captain ...
memories of good food and great times.

What do these foods say to you?
A. Apple crisp -- the only kind I've had is homemade. my stepmom made it for us every once in a while, and we would eat it until we were sick, cuz it just tastes so amazing...
D.Spaghetti -- my winter fave. everytime I'm coming home & it's raining, I always fantasize that I have someone waiting for me at home making spaghetti...
P. Rice-a-roni -- haven't had this in so long, but reminds me of the first time I made it myself, totally misunderstood the dirs and burnt it, but found out how to make it perfectly crispy before adding water this way! lol
Y. Sloppy Joe -- so good, I could eat them everyday if I cooked.... reminds me of childhood vacations...
thanks for the trip down memory lane...
