Shabbat (Jewish sabbath) is from sun-down on Friday to sun-down on Saturday - so Saturday is the sabbath..
The Christian sabbath was changed in 321 by Constantine in a decree. This day, the first of the week, is the "Lord's Day".

Saturday & Sunday are called the "weekend". That would make Sunday the seventh day.
Calandars are printed with Sundays in the first column. That would make Saturday the seventh day.
Saturday is the tradition sabbath in Judaism. Christians celebrate sabbath on Sunday to commemorate the day Jesus resurrected. I think Muslims consider Friday their holy day.
Biblically, the sabbath is said to be the seventh day but it doesn't say whether that refers to Saturday or Sunday or some other day.
Does it really matter? I don't think so.

Your answer is the last sentence of your question. Saturday is Sabbath, Sunday the first day of the week. It became another day of rest due to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Now we have two days of rest; so what is the problem?
If you take all religions and cultures you will find that every day in the week is or has been a day of rest followed by a first day or work day.
The thing that is hidden, among all calendars, is that there is another day, an Eighth Day! That is the real mystery.

One reason maybe is that usually we start our week with Monday which is the first day of work and counted the weekend as both week ends so the reason why monday is the first day and Sunday the last day. Other religion had Saturday as the sabbath day, and so it is the Seventh day of the week, while other countries regards monday as the firs day of the week.

I am more than 25 + 25. I was taught back in my country as Sunday was the first day of the week. Monday is the first day of the work week almost all over the world. Sometime back I was cleaning my garage and I threw away lot of garbage but I found out one old crumpled calender. This calendar was of 1944 which is six years before my birth. In it Sunday was showing as first day of the week. Typically people think Thursday as the middle day of the week which is not correct. The actual middle day of the week is Wednesday. Hope this helps.

The first day of a week is sunday so the seventh day is saturday. The holiday of a week is sunday too.God created this universe in 6 days and then took a rest on the seventh. So we have 2 days holiday in a week e.g. on saturday and sunday..That is its history.Sabbath day is on saturday as spoken in the Qur'an that on saturday all jews were prohibited to go to work. But they did not obey the God's prohibition so on saturday they went fishing.God got angry to jews at that time.

I've always been taught that the week starts on Sunday. Though it is more logical to think of Monday as the beginning.
