What is Area 51?

I'm curious as to know what the rumours are about Area 51 (Or is it another number?). Can someone tell me? Is it something like Torchwood?

Area 51 AKA Muroc Field AKA North Base AKA Paradise Ranch AKA Dreamland. Is located in the Nevada Desert, on Groom Lake (Dry). It was used as a Classified Location for the Testing and Development of Black Aircraft.

The Base was started by Kelly Johnson of Lockheed's Skunk Works. He was searching for a Isolated Location Close to the Lockheed Plant to test the the U2. The location had previously been used for Artillery Testing and Training in WW2.

As time went by several Aircraft were tested there. Such as the A-12, SR-71, F-117a, B-2, The Have Blue Testbed and the Tacit Rainbow Testbed.

It was called Area 51 due to the fact that the Atomic Test Ranges were located very close to it and each of them were given another. This made it look like just another Test Range.

It has been used for Projec's Have Doughnut and Have Drill. Which both involded the Testing and Use in Training of Soviet Fighters, Purchased/Recoverd by Various Methods over the years.

Various Conspiracy Theorists think that the US Government is hiding UFOs there. Personally I don't believe that. The Base was listed as Closed sometime in the late 90's. All operations have been moved to an Undisclosed Location. Possibly inside the US Army's Dugaway Proving Grounds in Utah.

Back when Roswell happened people needed a place to assume they'd take the aliens, the super top-secret research facility known as area-51 was perfect. But don't get your hopes up, 50 years of close scrutiny by UFO conspiricy junkies and not a shred of evidence.

If you head down to that area they're always flying Soviet aircraft, I think it's all for show.

Area 51 is an Air Force facility where classified research takes place. The activities that take place are part of the "black" side of military operations, and officially do not exist. It is near Roswell New Mexico, and in the 1950's a top-secret experimentla aircraft crashed near the town. The government started a rumor about "UFO's" to cover the fact that it lost a prototype aircraft and two test pilots. Ever since then the myth of UFO's has been allowed to grow, and the government can't say it's not true, because they started the rumors to begin with. It also allows them to carry on tests of experimental systems with the cover story of UFO's to fall back on when they are seen by the general public. In fact, the experimental aircraft actually are Unidentifed Flying Objects, because no one knows what the hell it was.

The actual name "area 51" comes from an old military map of the area (it was, and most of it still is, a bombing range, used mainly for Nuclear waepons.) The map was seperated into square (or as close to square as possible) areas. Groom lake (and the secret facility) is in the square marked as "51". hence "Area 51"

Many people claim it's an alien UFO research facility (houses the Roswell UFO). What's probably the most true is that it seems to be the USAF testing facility for their next generation aircraft (like the Aurora Hypersonic bomber). Whatever goes on in there, they fiercely guard it.

I personally believe that it was a Top Secret facility, but as the general public is now aware of it (despite the US Gov't denying all knowledge in the face of hard facts, like pictures and the google map images), it's now a decoy to attract spy satellites and Joe public, while they do their advanced testing elsewhere.

according to the US Military there is No area 51. However get google earth and write in area 51 and it will show you a picture of it. None of it is whited out like other military posts have like Rammstein for example (due to ongoing military operations for the war there). Its a top secret facility for testing and research would be my best guess. I cant say dont have that kind of clearance and if i did i wouldnt be able to say anyways lol. go figure right

AKA Groom lake.It is a place that doest exist acording to our so honest government.This is the place where they have alien tecnolgy and they try to reverse engineer it and do all sorts of tests on it.I hered in recent years they moved from Groom lake AKA Area 51 to a new under ground top secret location.This all maybee a hoax but our government knows somthing that they dont want us to find out about.

Literally thousands of government employees are sworn to secrecy at the base called Area 51. Why? It is known for a fact that many USA aircraft are designed and tested there, and for national security reasons, these state-of-the-art planes and weapons demand secrecy. But is that the only reason for the veil? Many think not. Many reports have come from this clandestine site of reverse-engineering of UFOs, test flying UFOs from other worlds, and development of our own designs based on craft captured from other galaxies.

Area 51 is the supposed area where some ufos went down and the government captured them and are studying the ship and the aliens. It is also rumored that the government is trying to make their own "ufo' there.
