That was the race in which Cale Yarborough got into an on track fist fight with Donnie and Bobby Allison (brothers). It was Richard Petty winning the race beating out Darrell Waltrip by a car length. It was Richard's 6th Daytona win, and his first in 45 races

it was the '79 Daytona 500 televised on CBS,and the Allison-Yarborough fight capped off the race.
Prior to this event all we got was the 15 to 45 minute segment on ABC Wide World of Sports.
