Are there any compatability issues with Excel (Office)2007 reading/ formulas etc when opening an Excell 2003 file. Currently in my workplace I am making complex spreadsheets with 2003 version and am concerned that it will not work correctly when they install Office 07. Would appreciate some advice or tips.

I dont think so, although im not very sure. But what i think would be a problem is if you make something on a newer version and opened it in an older version in which there is a probability that it will not be read. But with regards to excel i really dont think there is a problem, the program will just inform you that you made your project on an older version and ask you if you want it to be upgraded in a newer version in which there are no much changes. Just be sure to have a back up of the important things you made just in case.

If the file was created with Excel 2003, it should work perfectly with 2007. Actually, anything that was created with a version of Excel 97 or later should work perfectly in 2007. Where compatability issues arise is if you try saving it in another spreadsheet format such as for the spreadsheet program 1-2-3. In Excel 2007, they did away with providing compatability to really old file types and many file types of competing spreadsheet programs. Versions of Excel that are the 95 version or earlier run on a different file format and therefore you could have some possible compatibility issues in Excel 2007.
So the main point is. If you create a file in Excel 2003 and you want it to work in 2007, then make sure you save it as an Excel file type of Excel version 97 or later. Or best yet, save it as the standard version for Excel 2003.

I think there are no issues regarding that. I have Office 2007. it has a compatibility mode.whenever you open a spreadsheet created in earlier versions of excel it automatically enters the compatibility mode. if you want to make sure check the workbook's compatibility by opening the workbook you want to check for compatibility then click Microsoft Office Button , click Prepare, and then click Run Compatibility Checker.

It's a little refreshing to see everyone speaking so positively about the transition.
I've run into a LOT of compatibility problems- this could be due to the fact that our upgrade was done with everyone put in compatiblity mode, but the only dismal solution in my case has been (and may work for you, should you run into trouble) to save the "compatible" files as non-compatible. Something to think about.
I keep thinking one day I'll laugh about this disaster...
