Whats with this Im gonna report you stuff? I have been seeing this as responses to questions lately. I see offensive stuff in 2/3 of the posts on here and they arent reported. Why have that option anyhow, it seems a bit like kicking one off the cheerleading squad in high school or something. So what gives, do you guys report or agree with reporting or think its a waste of time? And also, what distinguishes rude reportable stuff to rude nonreportable stuff?

Hiya SDW: I dont report personally, but I have to agree about the copy/pasters. I wish they had their own forum; annoying to no end.

I report when a post is very offensive usually racial or hate speech laced.. If the opinion simply differs from mine and someone can speak in a non hate filled matter I siimply chalk it up to a difference of opinion...

I don't mind people having an opinion that differs from mine as long as they express themselves without the hate speech and offensive names..

The criterion I use in reporting is "clearly in violation of the guidelines". If there is good content with a statement which could be construed as offensive I don't report. If there's no useful content (or at the other extreme and insult with a long cut and paste only vaguely related to the question), bombs away.

Also, there is a vigilante group going around, reporting anyone who responds to trolls. Protect your account by not getting baited.

If you are referring to Dr Doris, she's a regular super-troll that comes on here about once every week and makes obnoxious bigoted remarks like the ones you saw. She wastes everyones time, and we want to rid ourselves of her as quickly as possible.

For the most part, I only report deliberately offensive material, or incessant copy / pasters who paste their college thesis for every question (See: Punter--thought I've never actually reported him). Most of the people I report are of the same faith as me, to be honest.

Usually it takes about 20 minutes to get someones account suspended, even with Yahoo Cops being flooded with complaints. And too many people abuse the abuse report just to get back at intelligent answers that they don't agree with (also primarily religious people).

I get quite a few violation notices, but the biggest problem is getting stuff posted in the first place, the censorship on here is appalling.
