"To put it simply: religions can't all be true, but they can all be false. Some try to get around this by saying that they all teach "higher truths" that are compatible, but this is a cop-out because adherents of these religions don't follow simply these alleged "higher truths," they follow the empirical claims being made. Those empirical claims of all these religions can't all be true. They can, however, all be false."

A clear case of the blind leading the blind

Mat 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

BTW thanks for all the points!

Three blind men came across an elephant and upon feeling its trunk one said its its a long wiggly snake, another feeling a leg said no its not its a tree of some kind and the third feeling its side and pushing said no its not its some kind of boulder. Point being - organised religion is blind because of its very narrow veiw point. The higher or deeper teachings behind most mainstream religions do have similar and concurrant themes and I think its for each individual to have a good old look at them all and find some truth. Fitting it all together with scientific fact helps to, especially looking at the newer quantum physics stuff. Also too many people get religion and spirituality confused, in my opinion the first doesn't always have anything to do with the latter.

An easy solution...

Paradigm piracy:

"Paradigm piracy, also known as metabelief and metaprogramming, is the practice of freely adopting and discarding beliefs and world views at will. Paradigm piracy is embraced mostly by practitioners of chaos magic, though it is also popular among Discordians. The idea is that belief is a tool that can be applied at will rather than unconsciously.

In The Paradigmal Pirate, Joshua Wetzel made a distinction between eclectic and systematic paradigm piracy. Eclectic paradigm piracy is similar to religious syncretism, except that the resultant belief systems are temporary. Systematic paradigm pirates, on the other hand, tend to embrace existing belief systems as a whole, often pursuing official membership in organized religions or other groups. Systematic paradigm pirates also often strive for strict orthodoxy in their chosen paradigms, and may appear indistinguishable from other adherents of that faith for the times that they are there. It is also not unusual for a paradigm pirate to use a combination of the two approaches."

Any sacrosanct doctrine of law is a recipe for trouble. The founding fathers had the wisdom to allow the Constitution to be amended and interpreted for just this reason. The goat herders who wrote the bible and other ancient holy books just weren't enlightened men, but it's hard to blame them given the primitive civilizations they existed in.

What do you think of this quote:

"We tend to put too much emphasis on proving or disproving trifling details of religious doctrine. If practicing a particular religion helps us to be a better people and makes the world a better place that's good enough for me."

I don't think we'll ever know if all religions are true or false, all I have to say is:
'Treat the other man's faith gently; it is all he has to believe with. His mind was created for his own thoughts, not yours or mine.'

Anyone and anything which claims to be perfect is a liar.

Nothing is perfect.

The fact that religions always claim to be based on the perfect inspired word of God proves that they are all false.

Well, I agree, they can't all be 100% true, but there is truth in each, and in certain ways they do compliment each other. Why would anyone make the fuss about religeon if there wasn't truth in it, it's almost like saying history books are nonsense...

Religeons are mostly non profitable, so why would people invent them if there wasn't something there? I think it's pretty naiive assuming that it doesn't exist, just because you can't see it... You also cant see oxigen...

All religions are a scam.
You can have a love for what you conceive is god,& that is where faith should end
As soon as You have a group of people telling who, what, where, and when to pray,Religion becomes contrived.
take god for what god means to U and U alone!

I can`t accept that there is such a thing as a higher truth. what you believe you believe and to each his own is the truth. No one knows really who is right or wrong. I find this quote says a lot........
" I disapprove of what you say, but i will defend to the death your right to say it."
