Have you seen The Sun newspaper today?
There is a picture of a Chow Chow dog which has had it's fur dyed to look like a panda.

Do you think this is animal cruelty?

DP - Who knows if the dog was happy about it, I doubt he had a say in the matter!

Tammy C - dying your pets fur may be all the rage but it is certainly one fashion that I am definitely not prepared to follow. I think it is animal cruelty regardless of what type of dye is used.

If pet friendly dye was used then I don't see anything wrong with it. I've seen dyed dogs in person before and they act just as happy as they normally do. One may argue that the dying process could be stressful for the dog, but so can regular grooming. People should use their own discretion when determining how their dog will respond to the experience. If the dog is accustomed to thorough grooming initially, then there should be no problem.

Some say that dogs are embarrassed by this, but they also say this when dogs wear clothes. I find both far from animal cruelty.

If it was non - toxic dye, then I don't think it's cruel, but it's stupid.I was at a children's pet show a few weeks ago,and there was a pink Maltese there, and there was a Golden retriever at my vet with a purple tail, which my vet thought was wonderful.Apparently, dying your pet's fur is all the rage right now.

Oh,I wouldn't do it either, but I don't necessarily think it's cruel,as long as the dye used isn't toxic or irritating to the animals skin.I do think it's stupid, though,as animals weren't meant to be purple or pink!

It truly depends upon the kind of dye and the process by which they dyed the dog.

Please tell me they did not bleach the dogs hair white, and then dye the black patches? THAT would be animal cruelty.
