We can't please everyone. We can only do but so much to be accepted and loved by family and parents. I personally grew up apart from my parents, and for years I spent my time trying to gain their approval but in the process it was taking too much out of me, that I just said, that's it! I started living my life for me and not for anyone Else's. Respect is earned, and I'm just as important as the next person, I had to learn that I had to live life in a way where I was happy, and if they didn't accept me as I am, then it is their loss. You just have to accept that they may never give you the approval you seek, so be happy and have fun, in time they'll come around. Don't sweat it. For now, enjoy your life, don't waste energy on seeking approval, you'll be setting yourself up for unnecessary disappointment.

Well, at some point you have to decide that it is now about you, what you want and what can make YOU happy.
That's why it's so important to be a good boy or girl when growing up, then when you are an adult, well, your own happiness should be all the reward they need.
You have to accept that you have grown up and you are the only one to answer to, while obviously not wanting to do anything to hurt consciously the ones you love.
But, it's up to you to give a sense to your life and taking it in the direction you know it will benefit your happiness.xxx

Yes I have, but that doesn't excuse me from being the responsible son that I should be. For example, my parents have given up all expectations with regards to my academics, but that does not mean that I could do away with being irresponsible in school.
So what I'm saying is, free yourself from any imaginary noose that's tied on your neck, because unwanted pressures will just bring you stress...
But at the same time, have it as one of your goals in life to make them proud someday.

I was pretty young when I stopped. You need to realize someone is always going to disapprove so you can drive yourself nuts trying to get approval.

that's a natural feeling..........shows you just want them to be proud of you......they, no doubt love you, but you have not yet settled down and that is what every parent want to see before they die........so cut you a little piece of this big world out for you and put your parents at ease.......it will do you some good as well.........
live right
live happy
and live long
