Doesn't the Bible say to spread the word of God? Why isn't every Christian I know one of those annoying door-to-door ones. Aren't they afraid they won't go to heaven?

I'm going to heaven whether you show up or not.

You've already heard the message. Mr Wizard says it's time for you to pony up and make a decision.

What more do you need?

Nowhere in the Bible does it say that a Christian has to evangelize in order to get to Heaven. To have eternal life, you must repent and be forgiven of your sins.

Many Christians will not slam the Bible down your throat because that is not a good way of spreading the word. By being a good Witness a Christian can be a good person and do what is right. He or she can talk to friends and family about God. Going door-to-door is not usually a good method of reaching people.

We are supposed to be the light of the world. We are to set the example, and by that example, open doors to share what we know with the world.

I imagine that the Christians near you are behaving properly if they are behaving as God wants us to. Their continuing joy may eventually get your curiosity up, and you will ask them a question that will allow them to share their belief with you.

After that, the ball is in your court. You can pass it or play it. Your choice.

It works just like your own personal circle of friends. One day, one of them will have on a striking outfit. You may be moved to ask them where they got it. Then, they have permission to tell you all about this little boutique they found on the other side of town. They may even invite you to come along on the next shopping trip, and you will see for yourself what that little boutique is all about.

That is how Christianity is supposed to work. Of course, some folks get carried away and overly enthusiastic. We try to forgive them, since they are so happy and want you to be happy too.

It does say in the bible to go forth and preach the gospels. A lot of christians already do this: missionary work, prayer-lines on TV etc.... some even go to extreme and (I believe) dangerous measures such as 'recruiting' young people to 'fight a war' against society. I believe this borders on anarchy and even child abuse.

Long and short though: 'door-to-door won't make the score'

Dear Phoenix,

The Bible also warns Christians not to engage in foolish debates and from the way that your question is stated- it is obvious you have no interest in people sharing God's love with you.

Christians do not earn their way into heaven and we don't get to heaven because we share Jesus with others.

By the way not every door-to-door group is Christian: IE: cults like Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons.

Kindly,

Nickster

Only those who are willing to listen to christians speak of the gospel, are those that we (as christians) are persistent in counceling.......those who don't want any part of religion, trying to minister to them is like beating a dead horse! Sometimes, it is very difficult and challenging for a believer to advise a non-believer about the Bible and try to coax one to believe as they do! One who is saved has nothing to worry about as far as not making it into heaven...but they still must answer to God about their lack of ministering to those who needed to hear God's word!

It's not about you. Perhaps Christians are being discerning. If you don't want to know God, then ask one of those silly questions about Him. If you don't care, then God doesn't care about you either. And if God doesn't care about you, then I won't waste my time on you.

That's why I pick what questions that I answer. If I can answer the question for the defense of the faith, then I might if I think that the believer's or fence-walkers might see. Kinda like what I am doing now.

Phoenix: There are many ways to witness besides knocking on doors. Its important to witness individually according to their demeanor, beliefs, personal situation, etc.

St Francis said it best:

He said, "Go out and preach the gospel, use words if you have to."

youre right though, alot of Christians dont witness at all.

He wants Christians to spread the word to others who do not know who God and Jesus are. We on the R&S forum know you have heard of God and Jesus. It's up to you now if you want to learn more and follow the christian way.

The Word of God is the Bread of life.

But if I try to shove it down your throat, you're gonna choke on it.

It does no good to force feed someone that is not hungry.

WTF? Do you wanna be constantly bugged by people that have the intention of saving your soul? Sounds like you just want attention. That's your decision buddy. You obviously know that's a choice and I'm sure you're educated in other religions so make your own choice because nobody is gonna do that for you. I talk to people that want to know but I DO NOT push my beliefs on anyone.
