I dont think there will ever be enough oil in the world to justify the needless death of even ONE person.

The trouble is if you withdraw the troops and let the Iraqis fight out amongst themselves the trouble could quite easily spread out of Iraq into neighbouring states. The real problem is what happens the world economy if the flow of oil falters from the Arabian gulf, which could easily happen if militants sought to take the fight to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Arab emirates and others.

At this point in time, a huge proportion of oil from the middle east could be disrupted, which would bring the whole world financial institutions into meltdown resulting in mass job losses, disruption and dislocation to society in general.

The loss of soldiers is regrettable, but in real military terms the loss of 168 troops in 4 and half years of fighting is negligible and we ought to be thanking our lucky stars that its Only 168 and not ten or twenty times that amount.

Everyone in the world owes a debt of gratitude for those soldiers who have given their lives in this unpalatable conflict!. Many people wish for the troops to be brought home, those very same people would b e screaming blue murder if when they went to the garage to fill up their cars trucks only to find signs saying sorry no fuel. This conflict is about oil, but not just Iraqi oil , its oil in general. The world revolves on oil and oil products, disruption to its free flow would be disastrous and cannot be allowed to happen.

You'll have to ask the French. Compagnie Petrol De Francais has over 80% of Iraqi oil exports under contract. The reasons we carried out military operations against Iraq can be found by clicking on the link below.

There is one set price for oil. What is happening here in the US, as well as many other countries is that we are paying for the oil that other countries are using.

Let's say this. In Iraq the citizens are paying say 30 cents for a gallon of gas, but technically they are supposed to be paying let's say $1.10. Well since we get our fuel from them they think that we should pay a certain percentage to them in taxes for the fuel.

So what happens when you buy a gallon of gas is you're also buying a gallon of gas for someone in a proprietor country.

The reason why we're there is to keep some of our US military bases in the Middle East.

We have more control of their countries when our Military is in Iraq. That's why we're not pulling out of Iraq. It's not because of Oil, or because of "Terrorists".

(BTW: the word terrorist is such a broad term, it could relate to a 3-year old child.)

There will always bad things that happen in the world, its' a matter of opinion. There's no way anyone, not even God Almightly, can eliminate evil, and definatly not President Bush.

Good point, it might make one think that it just might not be about the oil after all. Freedom for the Iraqi people pops into mind.

That was not the reason for us being there in the first place. But I guess you'd like to see Iran/terrorist organizations start pumping? I believe Iraq is the 2nd or 3rd largest reserve in the world. Of course all of that money will be used to help others in need right?

you might as well ask, was it worth getting into WWII and stopping hitler....

it isn't about oil...never was....but there are some who just will not see...

the US is in peril... we have never had to face the danger we now must confront...if we hope to survive as a nation...we must defeat terrorism.... we don't have the luxury of inaction...

if we hope to pass to our children the freedoms we enjoy... we best get off that "war for oil" and begin to recognize the enemy....

terrorists love that we are divided....love that they can manipulate our media so throughly... and they recognize they can win...if only they persevere... the US will lose heart and give in...abandon allies and leave the iraqis to flounder... to die at hands, which will soon enough be at our throats...

rest assured...iran will take full advantage... and if you think iraq is ugly? just wait till they come knocking once more upon our shores.... and they bring nukes as a housewarming gift...
