There is a car in France that runs on compressed air !!! Why isn't our Government supporting this?? OHHHH well...guess they are trying to figure out a way to tax AIR..

In order for the compressed air cars to work, they have to be extremely lightweight. They simply would not pass American safety testing.

Now would you need a car that is as safe as we test them to be if the other cars on the road were not giant suburban assault vehicles? Probably not. But the fact is, that we have alot of big cars that would obliterate the much smaller air compressed cars in any kind of a collision.

It has a limited range. It is good for a short haul delivery vehicle, but not for an everyday car ... at least not yet. Basically it is a big golf cart so far. Hopefully they will develop it further. The problem with using compressed air is that the compression drops very fast and so does the performance. Just the nature of the beast.

The air compressor cars are made of extremely lightweight materials which would simply get destroyed in our crash tests. It's just not sufficiently efficient. Electric vehicles are a more efficient use of power than air compressor cars:

i prefer big american V8 cars. you would NEVER get me to buy a car powered by a windmill.
