No you're not too late. Tomorrow might be, though. Go for it, and good luck!!! (Oh, you might want to check your attitude about the arts, though. Some instructors may refuse to teach you because you just want to "slam" people.)

Not at all-sixteen is a good age to start. You are still somewhat flexible, and as your knowledge, skill, and ability grows your body will mature and put on some muscle and weight. So your technique may be a little stronger than someone that starts when they are much older.

I would suggest you modify your attitude some though because slamming people may not be very much fun. Some eighteen year old that has been studying for a while may slam you. Schools that allow hard contact all the time and cater to people that have that kind of attitude usually have a high rate of dropout and a high number of injuries. A good school and instructor will not teach you or only allow you to work out with older, more experienced students that can more adequately defend themselves and will probably be slamming you.

I started when I was 45. We have students in my jujitsu class that are in thier 60s & 70s. You are never to old. As far as slamming people, most Dojos will not tolerate fighting outside the class. Your outlook will change on this if you take the art seriously. besides no matter how tough you are thier is always someone tougher. Good luck.
