We adapted two dogs from the kennel over two years ago and love them so much but we are curious what breeds they have in them. We have heard of the dog DNA testing but do not know where to get that done at, if anyone has a link that would be great!

We would like to know a little bit more detailed so we can know what to watch out for in the future for medical reasons to know what to watch out for in the future. We dont mind spending the money and would just like to look into it.

Pick up the latest issue of Dog Fancy (with the Shih Tzu on the cover). There is an article about this in it.
I believe its about $65 plus shipping to order a DNA test. You swab inside the mouth and send that in so they can process the results.
They are working on a more expensive test, that involves blood samples, that can ID more breeds than the saliva test.
They are still mapping out different breeds. By the end of the year they are supposed to be able to ID more than 116 breeds.

DNA testing I believe doesn't come cheap. I think the simplest way is to take a picture and post it on a dog forum. You should be able to get an approximation. Or get a breeder or someone from the local Kennel club. They will probably be able to give you a good guess.
But if you've got a dog that looks like a purebreed and you want to trace the blood lines, DNA testing is the way to go. I'm not in the U.S. but I think you can find your local American Kennel Club chapter, they may be able to hook you up w/ labs that do the DNA testing. If you really need an answer fast then post the picture maybe I can help identify it. Or check out the websites of all the different types of dogs.

DNA testing will not tell you what kind of dogs you have. It will only tell you what parents they have IF they have the parents DNA on file...which I highly doubt, since it cost a lot.
The best way to would be to look up what it looks like according to the other dogs pictures, or contact the kennel and see if they have it on file

your vet or someone who has a high knowledge of dogs should help and probably a lot cheaper than a DNA test.
most breeds are (if they are pure breed) are quite visible .
go to the pet store buy a breeder book or try and compare them to other dogs or the Internet,
post photos of them here and i am sure someone will be able to tell u

Does it really matter that much? You have had them for over two years and they are your pups. Why don't you call them your mutts and not worry about it? Would you get rid if them if you found out they are part some undesirable breed? Which there are not any.
I would guess you could contact your Vet. and find about DNA testing. Why spend money on something that is not going to matter anyway?

juss hapt to spy this query and put me to mind of a fairly recent contovery.a few years ago this nations papers started a doggone human interest feedin' frenzied trend.the WHO-DUNNIT-AGIN-KNOCKING-OVER-MY-TRASHCAN/MAN BITES DOG BACK/MR DOG WITH THE BONE IN THE LARGE CARPET ROOM MYSTERY series of stories featuring neighbors with dog-bitten cat issues[turns out-im serious, the raccoon did it],spilt garbage can problems turned into tribulations w/DNA trials, and other of lifes forever-questions being solved simultaneously using the very same jury.
then to breeders fees[dammem-adopt like u did!]costin 1 arm + 4 deformed paws,princess' certificate may now come w/swabs o' mom&dad spit on it.
thats about the time i quit readin papers[tv went completly after last election]so it kinda stuck in my mind.seem to recall that you cant do wut yer lookin for.not with dna,not with a fox nor in a box...here i even [diggit, lazy me]looked it up to be sure i werent lyin.here y'are:
-"Q: Can I test my dog to find out what breed it is or prove that it is purebred?
A: No, DNA testing does not include markers that are specific to certain breeds. However, we can test for parentage if you want to find out if the dog truly is the product of parents of an identified breed. "-
[still,i added thisn fer yer eyes to see and also for referencin-notice the dot com below where't come from:-"
Q: How do I order Canine DNA Testing?
A. Call 1-800-625-0874, email us at contact@vetdnacenter.com, or order from the testing pages online at www.vetdnacenter.com/canine."-]
thats the long[i think we'd agree theres no short in it]of it for ya.
so i reckon yer left with option two, otherwize known as the last one:
LOOK THEM 2 GUYS RIGHT IN THE EYE,CHECK FER CROSST PAWS AND SUCH,SWEAR ON THEIR UNKNOWN MOTHERS,THEN....ASK 'EM.
