Prayer is never a sufficient substitute for action.

Prayer is a funny thing. It is only effective if GOD wants what you want. People often don't understand the reasons for something, so just because millions of people don't want something to happen, and ask God not to make it happen, doesn't mean it doesn't still NEED to happen for unknown reasons.

At the same time, prayers may not be answer in a direct way. Asking to have a girlfriend probably won't automatically net you a GF no matter how devout you are. But it may net you additional opportunities to attract one.

In line with ismamic teahcing, for stopping the violence in Iraq should be 3 types of effort e.g the strongest by power action, the medium by saying and the weak by praying to Allah.
The power action should be made by the muslim rulers/lea ders who have to make action such as the President of Indonesia,India,Bengladesh,Iran,Iraq itself,Yaman, the king of
,Saudi Arabia,Jordania, and the premier of Malaysia. They should sit together for making a resolution to UNO for halting the civil war.The other type is saying in the news papers,TVs or writing a letter directly to the leaders of civil war parties for halting the war,.The weak type is making a togetherness praying to Allah for asking Allah to change the minds of both sides leaders to make a peace keeping agreement. But I heard that the civil war in Iraq is made by USA and Israel intelligences for weakening the muslims in Iraq.If it is true it is a coward tactic. In line with islamic teaching killing among muslims is prohibited by Allah because they will kill the inno cent people. They have been tempted by satans so they make a vilolence agaist each other. They will have great sins.

I think that praying is the only answer. I think that every Muslim should pray at a set time and on a set day and peace will reign supreme cos you can't shoot anyone when your heads on the floor and your bum is in the air.

For a second, I thought you said "PAYING" for it to stop.

I thought the Saudis were going to start buying off the Al Q folks or something. I had my turbin and my shawl out, ready to get in on the action.

I think its one of those....prayers aren't a good substitute for action......but you shouldn't just act. Gotta set up a good concrete plan....something you dont' think you'd need divine intervention to have it work....but then pray it works anyways.

So no.

Sure. It's just like a Christian telling a starving man he'll pray for him instead of giving him some food.
