You want medium or short grain rice. Short grain or sushi rice is stickier than medium grain rice.
Check to make sure it is not sweet rice which tends to become very glutinous & is used for rice cakes & desserts.

I don't think it matters the KIND of rice as it is the preparation of the rice. Sticky rice, like that used in sushi, is cooked with vinegar which breaks down the starch in the rice and makes it sticky.
Research a little to make sure i am correct and good luck

yes you can go to a Japanese or Korean store and tell them that you like the sushi rice -- it's a bit expensive compare to the regular medium grain that you can get in any local groceries but this kind (sushi rice) you will not regret it. Goodluck to you.

the bags will be marked, 'sticky rice' and is used primarily to make sweet rice or breakfast rice because it clings together and you can eat it easier out of a bowl with chopsticks.

Umm...my mom gets kohuko rose rice and that's sticky. Also, look out for the "new crop" sticker and buy it over non "new crop".
