looking at a 1999 bmw 328i 165K miles asking 7K for it. from the outside it looks spotless, no scratches or dents. what do you think? too many miles? should i try and talk them down price wise? any advice is appreciated thanks!

avoid it like the plague.

i've said it before and i'll say it again. bimmers are good for leasing (with warranty), not for buying.

old bimmer with high miles is a big no no.

they drive great though but you'll most likely be driving it to your nearest shop or bmw dealer to have something fixed every other week. in the process, it will cost you arm and a leg like that the guy said above. after 4 visits to the shop (2 arms and 2 legs, assuming you have that many), you're gonna need to start selling your organs.

Hope you have tons of money for maintenance. With that many miles you'll be a regular at the BMW dealership. That's the only place you can get parts when that high mileage beast starts breaking down. They charge an arm, a leg and a gonad every time you drive in. I know. I owned one, until I got smart.

I was in the same position a few years ago. Beemers are my favorite cars but ya I would probably stay away for now. Get a reliable car like Honda or Toyota. I ended up with a Honda myself and it's running great like new. Do research Consumer Reports. You'll get your dream car later just be patient.

Too many miles... look for another one..... over priced also...
