Here's the fat loss basics:

1. You need to create a caloric deficit - no two ways about it - you must burn more than you consume. The most effective way to create that deficit is to use a combination of diet and exercise

2. Your diet should consist of lean proteins, vegetables healthy fats, and perhaps a little fruit. Keep starches and refined carbs to a minimum. Keep your fluid intake high (water only), and try to eat at least 4-5 small meals per day. This will help maintain blood sugar levels and keep you from blowing your diet.

3. Exercise - interval training and metabolic resistance training will provide the most bang-for-your buck. Steady state aerobic training just doesn't burn enough calories for your goals right now, and a bodypart training split will be less effective than total body training for fat loss.

4. If your schedule allows try to exercise six days per week - three days of interval based cardio and three days of metabolic resistance training. If not make sure your day has metabolic resistance training followed by interval cardio. Shoot for 3x a week.

5. Supplements: there is almost nothing that will make a difference. Sorry. Certain supplements can boost metabolism, or increase your energy somewhat and these may be useful - but in terms of real world "pounds of fat lost" I have yet to see anything that really made a difference. The problem with losing weight and diet plans is that most of the time you have to eat stuff you don't really like. What worked for me is this. I eat 1200 calories a day of whatever I like (healthier is better obviously) but whatever I like up to 1200 a day (no less). If I had to eat stuff I didn't like I would be cheating and quitting real soon. Then I find 30 to 40 minutes a day to sweat. i like to run but that's not for everyone so aerobics might be your thing or an elliptical whatever you like and will actually do for 30 to 40 minutes 6 to 7 days a week. If you stick to this lifestyle choice you'll lose 2-3 pounds a week which is a healthy rate without starving yourself..give it a try you have nothing to lose but the weight..Good luck!

Stay hungry. It takes 3 days for fat metabolism to crank up. Once it does, each pound of fat will produce 3000 calories. If you burn 1000 calories / day, it will take 3 days to lose one pound of fat. If you eat sweet foods it will shut down the fat metabolism for 3 days again. This is called the 'starvation mode'. Of course, fat people always want to eat something to lose weight. This is counterproductive as well as frequently costly. Losing weight has to be cheap if you simply do not eat. Remember, hunger is your best friend for losing weight.

Try low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein, and exercise. The foods are low caloried, and yet filling and healthy. Brisk walking is great for burning body fats.

It is my lifestyle now. I am on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein and a hour brisk walk 5 times a week, and I have lost 31lbs/14kg and gained better health. I am now maintaining my 108lbs/49kg for more than a year, with more fruits and complex carbs.
